Don't click the back button! I know this list immediately looks long and tedious, but I swear it's all much quicker and easier than it looks. Please read it all!
Characters . . .
1. Both Sues and Stus are encouraged.
2. If you want to create multiple characters, each of them must be a seperate account. Multiple characters are allowed and encouraged.
3. Canon characters from POTO are allowed, but please check the character list to make sure the one you want isn't already taken. Different canons are allowed too, such as Leroux!Erik and Gerik, so long as they are truly different.
4. Canon characters from other fandoms are allowed and encouraged as well, but, once again, please make sure the character isn't taken before signing up to play them (the master lists can be found here, here, here, and here, all in ABC order).
5. "Self-inserts" are allowed, so if you'd like to make a Sue version of yourself, go right ahead. Please be aware that this board is public and any information you post about yourself will be read by anybody who drops by, so be safe. Real last names are discouraged for this reason.
6. If your character has magical powers or is inhuman, they must be that way from the beginning or gain the ability through some events in the game. In other words, don’t randomly decide that your character has the ability to see the future when they didn’t the day before, but if something happens to your character within the game that might cause those powers—such as crossing paths with a witch, getting struck by lightning, or dying and returning as a vampire, angel, or similar—that’s ok.
7. The only character that is permitted to kill another character without permission is Erik. Your character may kill themselves, and may also rise from the dead if you want them to. Vampires must also get permission before turning another character.
8. If you don't want a character anymore, you may delete the account, put it up for adoption, or retire them.
9. Characters that are taken but haven't been played in some time have a statute of limitations on them--they can't be re-made unless they've been unplayed for a year, though of course if the original player gives you the go ahead, that's okay, too.
Getting Started . . .
1. When signing up, please register as your character's name. No crazy names like "EriksGurl" or "DancingStar". Having the same name as another character is allowed but somewhat discouraged, especially since Sues are generally so renowned for their unique names.
2. Introduce yourself in this forum. Use the format in this post if you'd like, but feel free to add any extra information you want us to know. All the information you put in your introduction post may be known by anyone who views it, so if you have a dark secret or a tragic past, you may want to keep that to yourself for awhile and unveil it at a particularly dramatic moment.
3. Upload an avatar with your character’s picture in it as soon as possible. Your avatar may be a celebrity, an unknown model, a piece of artwork, an animated character, whatever. Please let us know who they are in this thread, so that we may keep track of who's who. (Originally there was an all-must-have-different models rule, but that's gone out the window.)
How to Post . . .
Use whatever style works best for you! The only things to keep in mind are these:
1. Any out-of-character discussion within the RP posts should be done within ((double parentheses)).
2. In the case of a sex scene, please "fade out" and then "fade in" afterwards. We'll all understand what went on in between, I promise.
3. Characters' entrances and exits should be marked as actions in the posts.
Board Behavior . . .
1. Don’t post any content that you wouldn’t post on a general message board. We aren't going to flip out if you use a curse word or make a dirty joke, but please be mature about it.
2. Do not tell other people how to portray their characters. Your character may not control another character's actions, thoughts, or emotions. Please also read this excellent post about godmodding.
3. Please make an effort to type (or "speak") correctly. Mistakes are one thing. Rampant disregard for conventions of punctuation and capitalization are another. (Using txt tlk or kitty pigeon for comic effect sometimes is fine, but please type in actual English otherwise.)
4. There is no penalty for inactivity, but you'll have a lot of catching up to do when you come back!
5. Be respectful of the staff and the other members.
6. HAVE FUN! ^_^
Useful Information . . .
1. The staff consists of Jess, and Sarah. We're both friendly and helpful, so contact us through private messages about anything. All the other members are equally friendly and willing to help in the chatbox at the bottom of the board.
2. If you're having technical difficulties or are confused about some of our inside jokes, check here.
...whew, you made it! That wasn't so bad, was it?
