Adrian and Teja were probably somewhere above Wisconsin, two days after the incident in the graveyard, and Adrian's sinuses hadn't adjusted to the pressure on the plane. He was reclining a little- as much as he could without squishing the person behind him- and pinching the bridge of his nose, his eyes shut.
"I'm sorry for not being much of a conversationalist," he said, opening them to glance at Teja.

Teja's ears had popped and she was absolutely miserable. She shook her head at him soundlessly.

He raised his right hand- currently wearing a silicone glove that made it look more like a standard prosthesis- to shield her from his view.

Unflatteringly, she tried yawning until it felt a little better, and put her hand on his arm to notify him.

"I've looked into surgery before, but at this point it would be a pretty extreme rhinoplasty just to relieve a few headaches," Adrian explained. "The last thing I need at this stage of my life is a nose job."
