By the time Adrian came home Adrien was sitting cross-legged on the couch in a suit and tie, though the cut of both was narrow and slim enough for it to look like it'd been cut for an androgynous woman, reading a French newspaper agitatedly. Only one light was on, right beside him so that he could read, but it was diim enough for his eyes to be aching a little.

Adrian stopped in the doorway, sighed, and turned up the studio lighting overhead.
"Your eyes must have been hurting."

"Mmm."
He rubbed his temple, not looking back at him.
It had been two days since Kurt Lazarus - on this very couch - and he didn't know how to tell Adrian. There was nothing to say. He didn't know if it would injure him or give him a perverse hope that reconciliation was still possible.

"Your hair's getting longer," Adrian said softly. "I... I hadn't noticed."

He sat down opposite Adrien.

He'd finished the article he was reading, but he left the newspaper up guiltily.
"I cooked," he said in English a little stiffly. "Zere ees food een ze fridge you can re-'eat-"

He was very reluctant to lower the magazine, so he compromised: lowered it while looking down at it at the same time.

"I'm only reading the news-"
What Adrian had done was impossible to escape, so he'd eventually given in. Everything was about the end of the cold war, so he might as well be well-informed on it.

"...strange, seeing good things in there now," he sighed.
