The drive back to the mansion from the countryside was a quiet, tense one. Bruce didn't know what to say to Lois, and Lois was alone with her own thoughts. He hoped, though he wasn't letting that hope get too high, that she wouldn't leave over this. He may have been a loner by nature, but being completely shut away from everything wasn't something he really wanted.

*Once she was back at the mansion, she stayed shut away in her room for hours. She remembered that long, baths used to help get things straight so she filled her tub up and silently soaked in the scalding hot water. But things were still too chaotic. She needed quiet. True silence. Lois took a deep breath and slowly, she slide down the tub and completely submersed herself.
But the only conclusion she could come up with was that what he had told her didn't change how she felt about him. She was hurt that he hadn't told her but deep down she knew why, and the idea of sacrifices didn't scare her like it usually did. She hadn't felt like this. Ever.
Hours later, Lois got a hold of Alfred who then pointed her in the direction of where Bruce was.
The entire day had gone by and it was dark by the time Lois quietly knocked on his door.*

Bruce had done his own share of hiding away in a room--his office, in fact. It usually was his office when he needed to be alone, and when Alfred found the door bolted he knew to keep a short distance from the place, at least for a time.
He did what he usually did when things went a bit sour--turned introspective, brooded silently as he sat in his chair, staring out the window. It was the way he was when Lois knocked on the door, pulling him out of his reverie and finally bringing him back down to earth.
Pausing to work out a crick in his neck, he got up to answer the door.
"Hello, Lois."

"Hi," *was all she could say after a beat.*
"Mind if I come in?"
*The air between then was awkward and tense and Lois couldn't help but resort to social niceties.*

"Not at all, come in." Was the response, Bruce resorting to the same thing.
He stepped to the side to let her pass.

*She quickly walked past him and into the room.*
"I..." *she began, looking about the room as she hoped her brain would come up with something remotely appropriate for the situation.*
"I'm sorry," *was all she could muster. It was far too short to express even the surface of what she wanted to say but it was sincere.*

He closed the door quietly behind her, doing what he did best--keeping a blank face, or as well as he could.
"I think, if anyone should apologize, it should me." He said quietly.

"No," *she said quickly, turning to him.* "I get that you were trying to protect me..."
"Maybe even yourself."
*Regretting adding the last bit, she cleared her throat. She stood there leaving a large space between them.*
"I just..." *She sighed.* "I just don't know if I can deal with this dual identity thing and it scares me because I want this. I want you."
*What she really wanted to say was that she needed him.*

((Man, what's weird about this conversation is that she knows somebody else with a dual personality.))
"I can understand that. I'd always wondered, if I ended up in a relationship, how the entire Batman side of my life would affect things. How much could I tell? Involve them in? Just how dangerous would it be?"
He sighed.
"Though I never counted on finding someone tough enough for all of it, if...if she wanted to stay."

((Oh God, I KNOW. I dunno if she's going to be able to handle THAT one at ALL.))
"The thing that I don't understand is how I know full well what's ahead and not feel any different about us," *she admitted, moving closer to him.*
"I promised myself I'd never share anyone with the rest of the world again but--"
*Her dad, fifteen different schools in a dozen different countries, living out of suitcases...*
"--I don't care," *her voice shook with conviction.*

((Maaan...Bruce isn't the only one with lots of emotional baggage waiting for him. <_<))
"I promised I'd never get anyone involved--but you are."
And then, he was pulling her into his arms.
"So much so."
And kissing her.

((If you factor in the MINDRAEPAGE that's about to happen to Lois, I thinks she'll be just as messed up as Bruce in a few threads. -______-;; ) *With no time to catch a proper breath, Lois returned his kiss. Being in his arms made her forget everything and in that moment, breathing was one of those things. Clinging to him, she kissed him. She knew him now. No more barriers.* ((I feel really bad letting them be so happy right before MAJOR shit's about to go down. We are SO ebul. ))

((Poor Lois. She probably would've been safer hanging around Clark...right. We probably would've had Lex Luthor show up next, and ruin everything anyway.))
They should have resolved this long ago. Not for the first time, he wished he didn't have so much trouble letting other people in. But he'd didn't have to think about that anymore, and thinking wasn't something they needed at the moment in any case.
Just Lois, in his arms, the warmth of her...that's all that mattered.
The kiss intensified. There was no breaking this one off.
((Me, too. It's like "Here, have some good times! YOINK GONE NOW))

((You know what? That's an excellent point. XD I like this better, though. Lex has been played out in movies and on TV. I love fandom mixing!))
*It was the same for her. She was finally able to stop thinking and be silent... and yet say so much. She was able to say all she wanted to say with just her kisses and embraces.
She was quickly losing control and, for once, she didn't care.
Gasping for breath between kisses, she grew more and more desperate for him. She soon realized that her hand, on their own accord, were impatiently pulling at his shirt.*
"Bruce--" *she said breathlessly against his lips.*
((I love how we can do these scenes without saying those three magic words.))

((*pats Lex Luthor* He needs a break))
They were moving, though without realizing, Bruce shuffling Lois backwards toward the wall behind her.
"Yes."
And his hands were there, on her shirt, lips claiming hers.
