There is an option to "lock" boards and sub-boards to members only. This would mean that guests coming in would only see what we chose for them to see, which would "protect" us to a certain extent (since registration is not moderated, one only has to register an account) but also potentially impact how we and others used the board.
Feel free to discuss, and as I said before this is not a condemnation of or comment upon anything that's actually happened here. But it is an option.

...are we supposed to say after we've voted or something?

No, you don't have to.

Ah...I only commented "I voted" because I don't have much left to say that hasn't already been said in the squeebox.

*facepalm*
I can see that I started a really big problem by starting the TV Tropes page now. Leaving the Verse unlocked invites anyone who wants to come read it to do so, but locking it, I think, would actually INCREASE the number of people who register and don't do anything.

I do agree with Megan there. I don't join boards unless I can see at least part of them.

I don't, either. But how much do you need to see? And if the page is off the tropes site, do people feel differently?

I personally don't mind if EVERYTHING is kept unlocked, now that we're off the trope site and there will be less traffic anyway.

I'm still in favor of perhaps having all the IC-stuff hidden, but all the OOC sections can still be seen even when one isn't logged in. I've been a part of boards that are like that, and it never hurt their recruitment any--a lurker can see all the rules, see what character profiles look like, and see what the posting quality of the members of the RPG is like (and maybe get a feel for the personalities involved).
I'm just...not comfortable with a lot of people seeing some of the stuff I've written on here. I wrote all this for the 'verse, not a huge audience.

I like the idea of keeping it as open as possible now that the main source of traffic has been eliminated.

Well, I'll leave the poll up for a few days; it is possible to change your answer. Just make sure you use the same account.
