Nicki shrugged, almost callously, but thinking and feeling beneath the veneer of indifference.
"I don't think he cares to see me," he said softly, after a moment. "But I'm staying in Paris, and so is he. We might meet."
He looked up at Aurel with a sharp smile. "But it won't be in that damned tower," he said, a certain edge to the words that had not been in the previous ones.

Aurel nodded. He wasn't sure he could fully understand Nicolas's feelings, but he did understand the pain.
This night had been unexpected for Aurel. He never would have thought he'd learn where Vincent was, nor that it was Nicolas, out of everyone, who'd told him. He knew he couldn't just let this be. He had to try to meet Vincent somehow. Or at least try to meet Armand, to see what kind of vampire he was. He needed to get home, to try to think out a plan of what he'd do next. Aurel turned, and was about to leave, when he stopped and said: "If you need someplace to stay, don't hesitate to visit me."

Nicolas regarded him with a nearly blank expression for a moment. Then he was suddenly overwhelmed with gratitude and warmth for the older vampire, and had to stop himself from embracing him as he might a cousin. He wanted to tell him about George Boleyn and ask him if he'd ever been in love with a mortal, ever known this feeling, the strange sense of solitude and the keen interest in the time, which was unusual for Nicki because he'd never known such an interest - the last time he'd been in had been his own, after all - and the halting fear that he would hurt George in passion for him. From this confession, he managed to refrain. But, a little overcome, he reached out to gently clasp Aurel's hand. It was a weak show of such a strong feeling.
"If you - don't mind," he said hesitantly, "I wouldn't mind visiting you now."

Aurel smiled. He gave Nicolas's hand a slight squeeze. "I will be on my way back now. Feel free to join me, or come by anytime you like."
Aurel let go of nicolas's hand and once again turned to leave.

And Nicki hastened to keep up, sweeping his snarled curls off his face with his hand, still slightly warm from the pressure of Aurel's, and smiling at him unguardedly.

**NEW NIGHT**
Lucy, decked out in a new, recent-fashion dress (though, one cut quite scandalously), was wandering about her old digs, finding herself meeting a few of the vampires she'd run across when she was one herself. Eventually, she stopped and was pulled into conversation about her current status and how she'd managed to become human again.
"That was the best part--had my dearest, who's got a hell of a lot of smarts, he made me a potion that cured me."

Lestat was prowling the alleys tonight, the parties had all since dried up until Halloween.
Lucky for him, however, he happened upon the same alley that a certain ex-vampire was talking about.
"A vampire cuuure?" He purred coming up behind her "Really?"

She turned to Lestat, still smiling.
"Yup. Found it by accident, but look--I used to be one of the undead, and I'm human again!"

Lestat reached forward and grabbed the side of her neck "A pulse, my goodness you are telling the truth." He twirled her about, as a terrible idea came to his head, a wonderful, terrible idea.

She twirled with the movement, her agility from being a dancer coming in handy.
"Yep. It's a bloody miracle, I tell you."

Lestat pouted as he dipped her "Oh how I long for the days of mortality, to see the sun rise, to hear the birds chip."

"Oh?"
She'd always known of others that hadn't liked, or wanted, what they were, and it had been on her mind quite a bit recently.
"Well...maybe I could help."

Lestat leaned her up, with the largest puppy dog eyes he could manage, whoever this girl was, she was falling for it hook line and sinker.
"Oh could you? I've been wasting away in this form for so long, I just, I just want to see the blue sky, mon cher, the morning, the sun rise, mon cher, the sunrise."
Now he was just being a ham.

One eyebrow went up at all the ham. She was getting all sorts of vibes from him--she'd had to deal with people long enough, in a lot of ways, that she'd gotten good at reading them.
She crossed her arms, eyeing him.
"Hey, now, don't think you can pull one over me. I know how boys think. But if you want the cure, you just have to ask."
