He chuckled.
"I might have been something interesting if I'd stayed human, but now...I would not trade this for anything."
His experience with being temporarily turned back had showed him just how much he loathed the human state of being--a state that did not suit him anymore.

She still wondered what he had meant about her mother--oh, yes, she'd remembered.
"Unremarkable in origin and end."

"Perhaps in the end, but not the origin." He said--not reading her mind, no, but he could guess at her meaning.
They were a good way away from the cathedral now, and he was scanning about to see if perhaps there wasn't a sewer drain they could dump the body in.

And yes, the drain is big enough."
All he had to do, he knew, was show her a painting or a picture of Marianne.

Almost tenderly, she nudged the corpse into the drain. It took a little maneuvering, and she was glad he hadn't gone stiff yet.
It finally hit her she'd killed someone.
"I... he's dead."
