"Hardly a lady," she said drily, but took the offer and entered. It was incredible, and she was sure that wasn't just the new senses making it so. In the sunlight, it must have--
Well, she'd never see it in the sunlight.
"Will anyone be inside, this time of night?" She muttered.

"I'd call you one."
The interior of the cathedral proved to be just as soaring as the outside--though less looming and gothic and more about light and color. The effect, on vampiric eyes, was an almost dazzling one.
"Oh, yes. Late-night comers with something weighing on their mind, or even one of the priests."

"Is there a plan? Beyond the obvious."
She could smell... well, she could only assume that was what people smelled like from a distance. It smelled... alive. Her eyes fluttered when she caught it, and she was suddenly glad they weren't in a crowd or she'd have lost control.

"I rarely plan. I mostly go by instinct. And vampires do have those, oh yes."
Sensing movement, he pulled her aside and out of view of a late night worshipper.
"How's that for a target?"

Her eyes flashed. For a second, she focused on singling the target--a young man--out. She zeroed in on his particular heartbeat, his smell among the others and the incense and candle smoke.
"He smells desperate."
Was it normal to know that?
"He's only a few feet from the shadows..."
It took every inch of self-control not to attack.

"One of them being desperate is good--you can use that. Draw them in. Slowly you're going to discover more and more things you can do. Perhaps you'll read minds like I can." He glanced at the singled-out worshipper.
"You could try reading his."

((I think I'm going to give her some kind of mind-controlly Glamor ability in the style of True Blood, but that'll have to develop and at first it'll be a bit spotty. Eventually she'll essentially be able to pull Jedi mind tricks that include memory control.))
She concentrated very hard, and while she felt there was something she wasn't tapping into, it didn't feel as if she could read his thoughts. She shook her head. "I don't think I can."
But as if responding to her mind, her absolute want for him, the man turned to Amelie mid-prayer. He came towards her with a blank look on his face.
Amelie, panicked a little. "What is he doing?" She hissed to Daniel. When she dropped concentration, though, the man snapped out of it and seemed to turn away. Realizing she had been doing something, she concentrated her best to try to do it again, but she'd lost it.
She moved swiftly after the man, who was headed into a convenient patch of shadows.

((Cool! I like when vamps don't have repeat powers, heh.))
Well, that had been interesting. He couldn't quite say what it was she'd been doing, but it had a familiar vibe to it--more mind tricks. It was good, for a first try, and so long as she kept at it he was sure she'd just pick up on it faster and faster.
He waited, concealed, watching as she caught up to the man. A natural at this, Amelie seemed to be.

In the shadows, it was easy to overcome the man. The neck seemed traditional, so she leaned up and--
It was like nothing she'd ever experienced before. Lost in the moment, she was sure she'd never want to stop.

Even at a distance, he could savor the moment, and even recall the first time he'd ever sunk teeth in. He couldn't stay back in his memories for long, however, as he realized that if she stayed at it things could go bad.
He glided up to her and gently gripped her arm.
"Enough, now. You need to let go before his death or he'll drag you down with him."

She wouldn't have listened, but the contact jarred her. Reluctantly, and with a groan, she removed her mouth from the man's neck. There was blood spread around like messy lipstick on her mouth.
"Where do we put him."

"Somewhere out of the way. The river or the woods."

She had well enough strength to carry the man, but his dimensions made it awkward.
"Help me? We'll take him to the river."
All things considered she was adjusting to being a predator quite well.

Grabbing his feet, Daniel--with an air of amusement--helped her get him outside.
"I think you're a natural at being a vampire. It seems to just flow with you."

"I wasn't especially talented at being human," she remarked. It had a nice sort of symmetry.
