*The bar was busy as usual around that time but he didn't pay any attention. Chuck sat at the counter, hunched over and clearly under the influence. Regardless, he sat there with a glass of single malt which made frequent trips to his mouth.*

*Adrienne swept in, laughing and joking with some colleagues--all older men. Though she was delicate-looking in comparison, she still ordered the same cognac they did, and drank it with the same enthusiasm.*

*It took him a while but Chuck caught a sight of her out of the corner of his eye. First he ignored her but figured that another notch on his belt couldn't hurt his popularity in this town or back home.
He decided to play this one subtle (though how subtle he could be while being drunk was a total mystery). Casually yet noticeably, he kept glancing over at the girl.*

*It didn't take her long to notice, and for a while she ignored. When he continued to give her looks, she turned and caught his gaze, raising her eyebrow in a pointed glance. She seemed to say, Well? Come out with it already.*

*Chuck Bass smiled his usual crooked yet charming smile and sauntered over. He stood in front of her with one hand in his pocket and the other holding his glass.*
"It was getting kinda boring," *he said.*

"The staring or the drinking?" *She asked, her voice dry but her face deceptively sweet.*

*Chuck's grin widened at the wit.*
"My existence in this establishment," *he said suavely.* "I haven't really met women worth my time since I arrived here."

"Well aren't we humble."
*But his efforts amused her. Men always did. She'd learned long ago to ignore it--though he'd laughed at her jibe at him, that at least was a point in his favor.*

"Humility..." *he said, dragging out the word as he sat down next to her.* "Is a quality best reserved for church. Why lie and act humble if you don't think of yourself that way? In my experience, women value honesty more."
*He made sure he wasn't too close but close enough.*

"Then let's acquaint ourselves, shall we?"
*He offered his hand.*
"I'm Chuck Bass," *he said with the usual slightly smug tone he used when saying his name.*

"Lady Adrienne d'Enjolras." *She said, with her own smirk playing about her pink lips, and extended a delicate, pale hand.*

*Impressed, an eyebrow lifted.*
"Nobility," *he said as he took her hand and lightly kissed it instead of shaking it. He loomed over it for a moment.* "It's an honor."
"Now that we're properly introduced, may I buy you a drink?" *he asked, still gently holding on to her hand.*

"This is Paris--there are more Vicomtes than there are pigeons..."
*She thought for a moment.*
"But alright."
*It couldn't hurt--and she could hold her alcohol.*

*Chuck let out a hardy laughter at the pigeon joke. She just might be worth the effort...*
*He leaned back and looked at her.*
"Hmm... But which drink? Too tart for brandy."
*He angled his head and took a sip of his single malt.*
"Too bold for wine. Too... pure for vodka..."
*A moment to think then--*
"Bourbon?" *he asked slowly.*
