"You don't know that" John said with as much conviction as he could "I'm sure there were plenty of people that ran."

**NEW DAY**
After getting home the previous night, László had taken pains to hide his appearance from John. He doubted the caretaker would be happy to see him hurt again, or worse, to catch him slipping back into the shelter after a night at his "job".
So far, it had been good. The scratches on his cheek didn't look as bad cleaned up, and aside from a couple of bruises he wasn't too much worse for wear. At the moment, he was hiding out in the sitting room, at one of the window seats attempting to read a book that was written in French...and not doing very well, thanks to his limited grasp of the language.

John was beginning to realize that maybe Laszlo was avoiding him, and the thought, upset him. This of course wasn't something he'd expected, if someone was avoiding him, it was usually for a good reason, but John couldn't come up with one.
But he hadn't said anything to Laszlo yet, because whatever it was, well, John didn't want to bug him.
However, he didn't have to stop himself from saying hello, grabbing a cup of hot chocolate, he poured one for Laszlo and came over to where he was reading "Hey, thirsty?"

Well, that was the end of that. John would definitely see the fresh scratches on his cheek, once he turned his head to answer...now.
"Oh...sure, thanks."
He was all nonchalance as he took the offered cup.

John managed not to gasp as he handed Laszlo the cheek, he wanted to, but he didn't "Are you all right?"

"Yeah," he said, resigned. "Not so bad as stuff that's happened before."
But at least this time, it hadn't been a customer that had done it.

"It's quite tame as to what's happened before" he reached out and touched them softly, retracting his hand to take a sip of his drink.

"Right. And nothing to worry about."
To fill in the awkward silence that descended, he took a sip from the cup.

"I trust you" John smiled after pulling back the cup from his lips "obviously I'm one to fuss about things, and this is nothing to fuss about" he looked out the window and sighed "what a dreary day."
His accent was starting to slip again, not like he tried to control it.

"You shouldn't worry about me. You'll end up with an ulcer." He said with a wry smile.
((You know I have no idea what language they're speaking--I always assume English with László because his French sucks and not many characters know German or Hungarian, but then I wonder if László's English is accented or not XD))

"I told you, it's my nature, I worry about people I care about" he said this without hesitation, which scared him, just a little.
((John can speak french, but he'd rather speak english, it's his native tongue. It might be cute if it was, hehe))

((Hee...I'm thinking it does, heh. Something with rolling 'r'))
His eyes widened a bit at "people I care about". That...didn't mean what it sounded like, did it?
"Ah...well. I...okay." He said awkwardly, flinching at how he sounded.

"Of course. I knew what you meant." He said hurriedly.
