Is there any sense of order here at all? If someone who doesn't work at the opera waltzes in suddenly, does someone on the board shout, "OH NOES IS THAIR NO JUSTICE IN THE WORLD?!" Miz Brandi has been telling me insane stories about this place for a year or so now, but I don't know exactly how insane any of it is and, well, I'm not sure what logical limits I have on where to play my characters.

Okay. There are very few limits, and it's hard to really explain where the line gets crossed (you can read various mod alert and rule posts in this board for info about things we've dealt with). Basically there is lawlessness until you interfere with someone else. Which is to say, you can wander into the opera, you can drink a potion and sprout wings, you can technically be in two places at once.
However, if it falls into godmodding, that's bad. Sprouting wings in the midst of a fight when you have no previously established wing-sprouting ability would probably be bad. Popping into someone's private residence would be bad--knocking never is. Being in so many places at once that plot is compromised in one location because of what you're simultaneously doing in another is bad. It's sort of a judgment call, and it takes some feeling out. Sometimes we get all meta and sometimes what is technically godmodding results in some amazing plotlines--it's really a personal matter. My basic rule is don't step on other people's play--the confusing part is that this may not be exactly the same for everyone. General rp rules apply--crack is totally fine, but give us some reason why your character got there. There should be a modicum of method in the madness, in my humble opinion. Not that I am the last word.
Poke around, get your characters started (I recommend one place at a time, to begin with), and ask questions (as you're doing). You can also pm/email me with specifics, if you want.

That pretty much answers everything, thank you very much. ^-^ I'll bug Brandi to tell me what plots are going on next time we're on messenger together and try to send my characters running into other people when the opportunity arrises.
