"You can't possibly want to help me...help me escape," *she said, crossing her arms.* "...I'm too... valuable," *she said with a derogatory inflection on the word.* *Julian let out a sharp laugh and rolled his eyes.* "Valuable? I see no value in keeping a girl here that refuses to serve her purpose to my mother. If pleasure is all that you are meant to provide..." *His jaw set at the thought of Christian.* "He is already being seen to in that department." *His face relaxed slightly.* "Not that he would deny you, should you change your mind."

"It's not really the changing of my mind that matters, is it? My consent is hardly a factor in this world of yours," *she said bitterly.*

((That convo got away from us. There are ways of enjoying yourself. Alone.))
*Erik wondered why Nadir would send him a girl. Was it so Erik would not seek his own company anymore? That was hardly likely, given what had happened last time.*
Yes. By you.

((No kidding. I started out jerking your chain and then I actually got confused as to whether we had chosen the worst possibly circumstances to start taking each other seriously and then things were muddled and my head's like "...okay you don't get to talk anymore." I'm not always this dense. Honest. )) "...now, I'd like to go, please..." *she said quietly, trying to move past the creepy thin man.*

((I thought it was something like that. It was still pretty funny.))
*As she moved, Erik stepped into the room.*
"Erik sees you have met his son."

"Y-your..."
*She pulled the shawl tightly around herself.*
"He...he said something about his mother...if there's a lady of the house I might not be welcome--" *she said hopefully.*

*Erik smiled tightly, his eyes meeting Julian's briefly over The Girl's head.*
"Erik is all the mother Julian has ever had," *he said.* "Welcoming or not, there is no lady."

*The girl drew back at this but only bumped into Julian's chest.*
"...oh."

*Julian lowered his eyes respectfully, his face warming at the sweet thought from Erik. As the girl bumped back into him, he lifted a hand deftly to touch her back, but made no move to grab her.*
I didn't...I mean, I know that she is yours.

*The girl recoiled from Julian's touch. He was neither warm nor cold, and it frightened her.*

((Yeah, he's just creepy or something.))
*Julian frowned.*
"I'm not trying to keep you if you are so intent on leaving."

"And where would I run? Into darkness and solid stone..." *she said with a frown.* "I do not know the way out."

*Julian sighed and glanced briefly to Erik.*
"Wherever it was that you were so determined to get to before."
*He focused on recalling her words.*
"Away from me."

*The girl pushed past them both and left the library, going to the front of the house by the lake and sitting despondently on a rock, staring out at the darkness. So much for getting truly away. She had no idea where she would go or what she would do.*

*Julian watched her go and turned to Erik with a sigh.*
"I fear that I do not understand Father."
