*Mulder stared at her with wide eyes, in mock affront.*
"Scully! You wound me; I go to great lengths to let you believe you've caught me out."

"Trust me, the thrill wears off," *she said dryly.*

*Mulder smiled.*
"I can't imagine why you're still here, then."

*Scully shone her flashlight in his eyes, blinding him for a moment.*
"Then you're dumber than I thought. ...and I think you're pretty dumb sometimes."
*She swung back to the direction of the...pirate ship, she supposed it was.*
"How deep is the water here? I might just wade in since you can't row for shit."

*Mulder squinted and almost dropped the oar.*
"Maybe if you left me alone, I could row to your satisfaction. Why am I rowing anyway? You're the one who's all equal opportunity for women and stuff."
*They were coming up abreast of the ship.*
"Yo ho ho!" *Mulder called.*

*Sculley winced. Mulder could be so embarrassing sometimes.*
"Look, there's a rope."
*She pointed to where the knotted, soaking wet, frayed and generally sorry piece of twisted fibres slapped and thudded against the side of the ship as it rocked on the waves. Standing up, she leaned over as Mulder brought the rowboat in closer and caught hold of it. She put away her gun, knowing it'd be useless if she needed her hands to climb, and instead took a switchblade out of her pocket, and gripped it between her teeth before planting her feet on the side of the ship and beginning to climb/walk up the side towards the deck.*

*Mulder watched Scully's ass appreciatively. The knife thing was also hot. Though it was a toss up between the knife and the little maglight she sometimes held there.*
"Careful," *he murmured, whether to her or to himself it wasn't clear.*

*She heard Mulder mutter something indistinctly from below, she couldn't hear what, but her tongue darted forward at the sound of warning, like a snake tasting the air. For an instant it slid against the knife and she tasted the iron in her blood before she felt the sting.*
"Dmmt." *She mumbled around the knife. She hauled herself onto the seemingly empty deck and took the knife in her hand, turning around to peer down at Mulder.*
"Whad ith ehd?"*she asked, pressing the edge of her sleeve against her tongue to try and stop the minor but annoying bleeding.*
Mouth wounds. Slow to heal. Damn.

"I have no idea what you're saying?" *he shouted up at her.* "Are you eating something? Did you save me any?"
*He rubbed his hands on his pants and started up after her.*

"I cut my tongue on the thtoopid knife. Now get up here! Or are you that nerdy kid in gym class who can't et to the top of the rope?"
*Taking out her gun once more but keeping the knife in her other hand, she turned and began exploring the ship.*
"Oh, wow, it's like...some kind of wreck...or something...antique detailing in the workmanship!"

"I passed the same FBI exam as you," *he shot back, though he had to admit--at least to himself--that she'd gotten up faster. Once aboard, he looked around.*
"But it's all... barnacley," *he said, frowning.* "Doesn't that only happen when the boat's underwater?"

"It's like the wreck's been raised..."
((I guess Davey's not around until Megan's on?))
"B'yarrr..." *she muttered to herself.*

"Is it International Talk Like a Pirate Day already?" *Mulder said. He leaned over the side to point out a huge hole.*
"That... doesn't look right."

"Somehow I didn't expect it would..." *she shone her flashlight onto it, shimmering white against the black waves that flowed in and out of the side of the ship.*
"Logically...this ship should not be afloat."
*And yet the damp, aging timbers creaked with movement and the roll and pitch of the water kept bumping her shoulder against Mulder's.*

"So... logic hasn't got a lot to do with it, I'd say."
*The sway of the ship gave Mulder an idea and he "fell" into Scully dramatically.*
