*Belladonna glared at him* Don't even try it. Don't even think about trying it. I saw what happened, and I don't care what darling poetic excuse you have. Two months at the... *She stopped and looked away, the bruises and tiny cuts on her arms standing out in stark relief against her pale skin* ...I won't be tricked, ever again.

"Please, Bella, it's not what you think." There was trace of begging in Christian's voice.

Oh, really? *She walked towards him, her heels clacking on the floor loudly and her gaze venomous, her black eye showing up even more than usual against her skin* Is your precious Tristessa a witch, then? Do you have an evil twin? Or did Satine's spirit force you to do it?

((got to go. i'll probably be on later tonight.))
"No!" Christian couldn't bear to see Bella this way, so suspicious and strange. "Damn it, listen to me!" he shouted when he saw signs of Bella pulling away again.
Christian took several breaths before beginning the story of his past. "I-I used to a poet at the Moulin Rouge. A courtesan there, her name was S--" Christian tried again. "S-Satine. She was working especially hard at the time to become a star. She mistook me for a duke who would propel her to fame but that mistake would change our lives forever. Naturally, we fell in love. Then she died of consumption. I thought Tristessa was Satine."

*Belladonna continued to glare at him* I know about Satine. But she died. There is no way you could honestly believe that she had miraculously come back as a mute girl, even with your poetic ideas.

"She may very well be Satine. I don't know!" Christian rumpled his hair in confusion. "Yes, I am ignorant and stupid to believe that Satine could be reborn as Tristessa, but hey! It's worth a shot at believing."

Believing that a dead whore will come back a mute angel is a bit extreme. *She glared at him stonily*

"I'd believe anything! I was desperate after her death. I kept thinking that it was all a dream and I'd wake up and there she would be beside me! It's not my fault that I'm so stupid!"
Christian sighed.

*walks over to the door and tries to open it* Locked. Ugh. *She turned and faced him again* Is there any particular reason you had that chick come after me and drug me and bring me here, other than to tell me your sob story? I have a lot of customers waiting on me.

*Tristessa heard voices behind a locked door as she wandered the cellars in her nightgown.* That sounds like... "CHRISTIAN!" *she pounded on the door with her tiny fist.* "CHRISTIAN!"

*Belladonna gave him a somehow angry, somehow bored smile* Ah, look, here comes your lover. Guess I was wrong when I thought that she might've skipped the country.

"Please, Belladonna! Remember... remember when we were in your dormitory room and we talked about how there was a reason as to why we were here and a reason for the things we do? We--" Christian was interrupted by a series of knocks on the door. It sounded like...
"Tristessa."
