"Justice?" Marianne arched an eyebrow, several tendrils of crimson hair falling over it. "You call it justice to force an innocent man down to the cellars by the point of a sword, and to be interrogated like a common criminal?" She paused. "Let me revise that. He may not be innocent, but surely he has done nothing so wicked to deserve such malice from you." She eyed Tessa up and down. "Unless he's had you and finished with you, and you're still bitter about it."

*Tessa snorted.* "As if I'd let him so much as touch me. No, Madame, I have never before met your husband--I only wanted to discuss with him the circumstances under which he thought it acceptable to rape a girl who would otherwise have devoted her life to chastity and prayer." *She walked back over to the incapacitated Vicomte and picked up her sword on the way, holding it before herself thoughtfully.* "Because she is in no position to defend herself, or avenge herself, it falls upon those with strength enough to do so to see that justice is done." *She turned to look with bland distaste at Marianne before turning her attention back to Raoul, even though she continued to speak to the other woman.* "Where he has been the tyrant over the weak, so shall I prove a tyrant to him--'tis only fair. And I shall answer to God, Madame. Be this for right or wrong, I shall recieve no less than my due on the day of judgement."

Marianne just laughed at Tessa's dramatic words. "Raoul? Rape a nun? Please, I think I know him well enough to say wholeheartedly that I give your accusation absolutely no credibility. Raoul would never force anyone against their will. Besides, he's never had to."
She stepped up in front of her helpless husband and regarded Tessa coldly, but with mild curiosity. "Have you not met Raoul de Chagny? He's charming, good-natured, terrific in the sack. Perhaps not fully trustworthy, but surely not the kind of man to rape a nun."
((No I totally did not rip off Pirates of the Caribbean, what are you talking about?))

"However firmly you may be convinced of your husband's proven ability to win any woman into his bed, I can counter it with my own innate revulsion--I can assure you, under no circumstances, no matter when or how I was introduced to your husband, I would never stoop so low as to allow him to seduce me. If I may so refuse him, why may not others? And believe me, I have no aversion to seduction in general, such as a nun might." *Tessa spoke coldly.* "You do take your husband's lusty power for strength of character and a noble spirit, but you will find yourself to be the one sadly decieved in the end."

Marianne shook her head. "Decieved? I'm afraid not. There was a time when every new thing I learned about my husband's activites upset me, but I have no illusions." Her eyes narrowed after a moment. "May I ask where this nun is? Is she in hiding lest my wicked husband come after her again? Let her speak for herself."

"She has not fled--I'm certain if you would like to find her, it would be no hard task to go searching." *She gestured to the Vicomte with her sword.* "I'd like to get back to work here, if you don't mind."

Marianne looked skeptical. "You swore Raoul would remain alive and unharmed. I will go seek out the nun if you abide by that promise."

Raoul watched Marianne go and then turned back to Tessa.* She will find nothing, there is nothing to find, I did nothing.

"That's what makes it so convenient, isn't it?" *said Tessa slowly.* "These women--all of them, each and every one of them...your wife included--they all mean nothing to you."
