*Fievel sat on the roof, his hat slumped over his head, staring out across the city under the blanket of stars, knowing his family was somewhere across the sea by now, perhaps...maybe they'd left without him. Maybe he'd never see them again... His lower lip trembled and he thought he might cry, so instead he began to sing.*
"Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight
Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there
And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky
Somewhere out there if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true
And even though I know how very far apart we are It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky
Somewhere out there if love can see us through Then we'll be together somewhere out there Out where dreams come true!"

*wanders out onto the roof, wrapping her white shawl tighter around her shoulders to combat the chill of the cool evening wind, and sighs as she sits down right next to Fievel without even noticing him, looking out over the city below*

*Fievel shrank back a little as the human approached, but she did not see him. Besides, that Erik man he'd met seemed nice. Then again, maybe Erik was the friendly exception to the rule. Fievel backed away a little, then looked up into the girl's face. She seemed sad, and Fievel frowned, suddenly unsure if he should leave someone who seemed just as woebegone as he was.* "Are you alright?" *he asked quietly.*

*turns toward the door, her dark hair whipping over her face, but sees no one*
Is someone there?

"Um, I'm down here!" *called Fievel, louder this time, taking off his blue hat and waving it wildly from where he stood beside her.*

*glances down*
Oh. Oh!
*leans back slightly, as if afraid she might accidentally fall over onto him*
Um, hello there! Who...who are you?

"I'm Fievel. Fievel Mousekewitz. Who are you? You looked sad, is all...sorry if I bothered you," *he said, his whiskers drooping slightly.*

No, I'm not sad, I'm just bored. And I feel like no one notices me, you know?
*blushes bright red as she realizes that she has just done an excellent job of accusing others of what she has just done to him, and changes the subject*
You didn't bother me at all! I was just surprised is all. Um, it's nice to meet you Fievel! I'm Bonnie-Marie de Chagny.
*smiles and begins to extend her hand, but pulls it back, unsure*

*Fievel grinned.* "It's awkward, isn't it? I never know what to do when I meet humans." *He sat down and plopped his hat back on his head.* "I kind of like to go around with no one seeing me...makes me feel safe. Of course...I haven't been seen in a while...it gets lonely. I lost my family, you see..." *he said, sniffling suddenly and dragging his little sleeve across his nose.*

*smiles kindly at him, sadness in her own eyes as well*
I don't have a family either. Well, I do somewhere out there. But I had to leave them to come here to be a dancer. I had a couple of cousins here, but...they're both gone now And my butler Jeeves came and left too. I'm all alone here now.
((She doesn't know Raoul's back from the dead yet, does she? I don't remember them seeing each other again. I dunno. Whatever. Let's say she doesn't.))

*Fievel smiled sympathetically.* "Well, I've been watching a lot of you around here--you all em to act like a big family sometimes. The friends. The company. The jokes. The fights." *He slumped miserably.* "...I miss even the fighting with my sisters Tanya and Yasha. Especially the fighting with Tanya and Yasha."

*remains silent for a moment, unsure of how to respond*
*tentatively* Well...you could become a part of the family here too, you know.

*Fievel's ears perked up.* "Really, you think? I mean..." *he pointed at himself.* "I'm a mouse."

*giggles*
There are a lot of people here that make you look very ordinary. Trust me. Really, everyone here is very accepting! Besides, you seem like a very sweet little mouse.

*Fievel blushed under his fur and kicked a toe at the ground.* "Aw...you don't have to say that," *he said.* "You're probably the nicest person here. Except maybe Mister Erik. He's pretty nice, too. Until he shoves you down his pants."
