*Julian stepped out onto the roof. It had been so long since he had seen the sky here. Since Pina... And now with this new skin...it was different. He frowned to see that he was not alone. He watched the woman quietly.*

*Though she stayed in the same posture she'd been standing in before he arrived, showing no indication that she knew he was there, the Phantomess nonetheless spoke to him*
"Erika gathers, from what she senses of you, that you are of Erik's ilk."
*Her tone was thoughtful. Though he had a sense of a Phantom about him, there was something as yet undefined*

*Julian's eyes grew shrewd. There was something familiar about her, though he was certain they had not met.*
"And you, but...not."
*He lifted his chin and took a step forward.*
"Who are you, to be so familiar to me?"

*This time, she turned her head to face him, her gold eyes looking him over curiously. A rather fetching creature, whatever he may be*
"Does not the reference answer in the telling? Erika is Erika, the Phantomess of the Opera. Strange that she could come here, yet, bothered by it she is not."
*She cocked on eyebrow at him*
"And who has Erika met this day?"

"My mother's son. Julian."
*He frowned. He didn't want to disclose these things and yet he could not help himself. Then something clicked and sense was made of it.*
"Christian. He is yours."

"Julian," she said, rolling the name on her tongue a moment.
At the mention of Christian, she became less thoughtful and more alert*
"Yes. What do you know of Erika's Angel?"

*Julian's defenses immediately bristled.*
Plenty.
"I know where he can be found on occasion. Why do you ask? Do you not already know his whereabouts?"

"Yes. But there is a problem, you see--it is called Erik. I know that Erik will not let me near him without a fight, and a fight is not what Erika wants. That, and she knows that Erik and her are an even match, and none would win."
*Her right hand twitched a moment as she thought of the lasso tucked away in a secret pocket on her dress*
"But Erika will find a way to regain her angel."

*Julian sighed heavily, understanding the issue with Erik's obsession with the boy. It had proven quite the problem.*
"Julian is...not unsympathetic to your plight. I have found that on occasion, compromise is the only way to get what you want, even if it is only some of the time."

"Indeed, you speak truly. But it is rather unfair that Erik has so many Daaes, yet Erika must compromise on only one--and her own Daae, at that. Why should he have so many? Surely he can spare the one, if they are in such supply?"
*One corner of her mouth turned up in a tiny smile, the oddness of her own words not lost on her*

*Julian shrugged, but part of him understood.*
"Erik...hungers like no other. I doubt that it is in his ability to be satisfied for more than a few moments."
*He arched his brow inquisitively.*
"Does Erika not burn with the same fire?"

"Erika burns for all the knowledge it is possible to possess, for all the experience one may have. Yes, Julian, she burns."
*A nagging voice in the back of her mind taunted her, telling her that there was an experience she would never have--but she shoved it back with a mental scowl*

"Then you know what it is to be Erik, and why he will never surrender the boy completely."
No matter how I burn for it.
"No matter how ill suited they are."

"Yes," she said flatly. She didn't like being reminded of that fact.
"A shame, that you cannot help Erika regain her angel."

Erik would never forgive me.
*Julian frowned.*
"There are large consequences for such desires. I am not certain you would be pleased by them."
