"Yes."
She found herself surprised to find those hands to be not cold. She couldn't think why, though--she didn't know who this exotic person was. Right?
She tried to move, which sent shockwaves of pain through her.
"Augh."

Her first movement and then she held still. Small wonder, if it hurt that much. But she wasn't paralysed and she wasn't unconscious - concussed, possibly. Touto held her fingers tightly and weighed zir options, and the girl's.
Zie looked to the rooftop. "What were you doing up there?"

Suddenly, she felt very very foolish.
"I...was on patrol." She said weakly.
"I should have been more mindful of the rain."

"On patrol?" Zie couldn't help but be amused, despite the gravity of the situation (although it was a good deal less of a matter to zir). "Well, so was I, but I stayed on the ground. I take it you're far from home."

Sophie smiled weakly.
"Looking for crime to stop."
Said out loud like that, it sounded...ridiculous.
"And I am definitely far from home."
She tried to sit up, but didn't make it far.
"I'm in trouble, aren't I?"

"You're a masked vigilante who is likely to have her identity discovered by whoever finds her body in time to take it to a hospital, too injured to move on her own, and likely to catch pneumonia. That'd be 'trouble' to some." Zie still sounded amused, but gently so, as though trying to soften the harsh edges of reality.

Sophie paled. It wasn't at the thought of someone learning who she really was--she was a virtual unknown, even in Parisian society--but it the rest of it that sent a frightened chill through her.
"Oh...oh no no no...I can't die, not yet. Can't you help me?"

Touto was about to speak, an almost flippant, dry phrase; it wasn't up to zir whether or not she died, not really, although of course zie could make the decision. The way she had become suddenly startled, though, made Touto pause; it wasn't even a fear of dying, really, it was something else entirely. Zie glanced upwards with a bit of a smirk at the irony of it, Touto having a whim and acting on it - before glancing down. The fragility of the young masked heroine, hardly begun to save anybody at all, was almost poetic in its structure, the range of opposites and potentials staggering.
"I can do that," said Touto, kneeling down to put zir arms around the girl, and lean her wait against zir. "Lean on me."

Relief and gratitude flooded through her, and Sophie leaned into the helping figure. She wondered if this person was not unlike her in that--he? she? but it didn't seem to matter--they were patrolling. Sophie doubted that this was another vigilante, for all that the stranger was dressed in a rather interesting fashion.
"Thank you."

Zie'd been cursed before, many times - and thanked a few - but zie had never been thanked for an act of mercy. No; this wasn't mercy. Touto was flat-out saving her life, although only to snuff it out later. This sudden realization was uncomfortable and unnerving; Touto brushed it aside.
Zie did not nod or make any gesture, but zir carriage pulled up, drawn by Friesians (or what seemed to be Friesians to the eye, anyway), black and ornate and imposing. It was all smoke and mirrors, a wonderful and distracting lightshow, at least to those who could notice it. She did not seem to be in any mood of the sort.
Touto set her down in a seat opposite zir; the door shut behind them. It was almost funny, how many others had ridden this carriage and for what different reasons. Touto leaned forward and touched her face, ostensibly to check her temperature. "What is your name?"

The horses and carriage were a surprise, but not an unpleasant one--though Sophie had no idea how any of it worked, on the roof of an opera house. But everything--the stranger, the scene--all had the same quality that her dreams tended to. But she knew she wasn't dreaming, yet she had no other frame of reference for any of it. It was Something Else.
Deciding to go along with events rather than sit there and attempt to puzzle them out (she could do that later), Sophie instead opted to go along with the flow of events.
First off, but of course, introductions.
"Sophie. And you?"
She felt it would have been silly to rattle off her other names, or her vigilante apellation. Being just Sophie seemed best.

City lights, or perhaps even just the borrowed light from the moon, seemed to touch their faces, but only barely. It was impossible to tell where the carriage was passing, but either the rain had stopped or they drove a road where rain could not touch them. Touto bowed zir head with the lightest smile. "A gracious benefactor, Sophie. Perhaps a friend, if you'll permit it."

"Oh! Yes, I...I would like that."
It seemed all right if her knew acquaintance didn't have a name. As though any name wouldn't really be fitting. Though she didn't know what she'd call her benefactor.

Touto smiled. That was unexpected and almost endearing.
"Where is your home, Sophie?"

"The Petit Trianon."
She felt a pang--it had never had many people in it as she was growing up, but at least there'd been some. Now it was only her rattling about in the faded splendour.
