"A lot of people could tell you about the Prose Edda," said Teja dismissively. "And you don't know if Adrian is going to fund you yet."
It occurred to her she had no idea why a Norse god wanted to run for mayor, let alone a god of chaos. Uneasily, she decided to let that part slide for now.

“Does this place really strike you as being particularly full of anybody who’d figure out who I am as quickly as you did?" Loki scoffed. "They're not a particularly smart bunch around here."
Dropping the pretense of being anything but himself, even if it was only for the duration of the walk back to the Plaza, had put a proud bounce in his step. He was practically sparkling, even as they reentered and he gave a polite wave at the few people who noticed their return.

At the table, Megan was leaning drowsily on Veidt’s shoulder. Her eyebrows lifted in suspicious amusement at the sight of Teja and Ashton returning together, then abruptly dropped as she realized her own position was far more compromised. She sat up and averted her eyes.

If Veidt was even aware that she'd been there, he gave no sign of it and only gestured pleasantly toward their empty seats.
"I was beginning to wonder if you'd chosen to elope."

Adrian would put it together, Teja thought with sharp certainty. She didn't know when she'd get to warn Lukas - Ashton - Loki.
"I'm not the type for that," she said with a half smile.

"At an event like this?" Loki laughed. "Mm, no. I've a reputation to think of."
He helped Teja back into her seat and sat beside her, giving her hand a little squeeze under the table.
