"What's all the way down?" she asked, kissing him back eagerly.

“The museum level,” he said. “Artifacts I’ve put on free public view.”

"So you're going to show me an ancient artifact?" she asked, caressing his cheek.

“Oh my God-“
He started laughing.
“If you’d like,” he said, having regained his composure except for a lock of hair that had loosened itself over his forehead, “that could be arranged.”

"I'd just like to make out a bit, if that's all right with you."

“That is fine by me,” Adrian said loftily, as though granting her a favor. He offered her his arm as the elevator doors opened again.

It had been a while. Teja wondered if Loki had missed her.
He was too smart to not guess at where she'd been, since Adrian and she had been missing from the party for the same amount of time, although they returned separately - Adrian had claimed he had something he wanted to look over; she supposed he just wanted to prevent it from seeming odd if they came back even one right after the other. She appreciated him for that.
She was distracted, technically pleased with herself, and with Adrian of course, but far from satisfied, when she made her way over to Loki. He was dazzling even from a distance, draped over some file cabinet or something with a little glass of champagne in his hand, his wrist resting on his hip. He occasionally lifted it to sip, or to gesture. Everyone around him was laughing at everything he said; he was, as they say, 'working the room'. It was a really big pity Adrian hadn't returned with her now, because she'd have loved to have pinched him and pointed. It was nice teasing Adrian about his attraction to Loki. It made her own embarrassing attraction slightly less obvious.

“...and then,” he was saying, his free hand spread in a gesture of beckoning them deeper into his story, “just like that... I let go.”
There was a startled pause. Loki looked around at their faces, eyebrows lifted, and then burst into laughter, which the others joined in on.
“So that’s it, really. Next thing I knew, I was here- datling, hello, I was just telling the story of how we met-“

"Indeed, it sounds like you haven't gotten to me yet," she said, squeezing in underneath his arm.

“We were at a party,” he explained to his little audience, “back when I had the brilliant idea of running for mayor. I caught her when she was nearly crushed by an ice sculpture.”
He squeezed her back and gestured that he would be having a little private time with the missus, which was, thankfully, respected.
“Where have you been? I’ve spent the last forty minutes trying to convince these people of my incompetence-“

She gave him a meaningful look. It was mostly meaningful because a couple of seconds into trying to seriously hold his gaze she blushed and pushed her face against his lapel.

“Hello there,” he said fondly. “You look exhausted.”
