He'd supposed Loki to be speaking in a slightly supercilious tone about real people. Now he realized it had been bitterness, sarcasm. Was he truly so deaf as that?

He was going into the kitchen to make another pot - maybe that would calm them both - and he was towards the doorway without a word before he thought to explain to Loki where he'd gone. The gurgle of the coffee pot presumably cleared that up.
