Loki didn't teleport this time. He wasn't sure he would hit the right place in this state of mind.
It was a long trip into the village by subway, and it had started to rain by the time he made it onto Commerce Street.
He rang the doorbell anxiously.

The door slowly creaked open to reveal Megan standing there, scowling.
"What are you doing here?"

"Not for the pleasure of your company," Loki said dismissively. "Please, is my brother here?"

Megan eyed him warily and then hurried upstairs.
"Thor?"

Thor was bent down over a kitchen counter trying to partake of a sandwich on rye bread, the contents of which were eager to waterfall into his lap. Someone else in Thor's position might have been aware of the humor of his being an enormous Viking from space and constantly eating large meals, the purchase of which was most of the money he earned, not wanting the brunt of that to fall upon Megan Elness. But Thor was not aware that that was an inherently amusing running gag, only that Midgardian food lacked the density and nutrients of Asgardian food, and that in order to keep his energy levels at all what they should have been and needed to be for him to function, he seemed to spend an absurd amount of the time eating.
(He had warned his friends, Volstagg in particular, that this would be a problem, and he believed they had all found similar work for the same purpose. Megan did not charge for rent, and he was grateful, for as little else as he bought, the food seemed to take up the most of the money nonetheless.)
Thor apologetically lowered his sandwich and wrapped it in wax paper, then placed it in the fridge, before turning to her.

"Your brother's here," she said, rather apologetically.

Thor's smile was reflexive, relieved and unconscious. It was also enormous.
"Excellent!" he said with a rumble of laughter, clapping Megan on the shoulder as he hurried past her, the entire stairway shaking from the heaviness of his body and the cheery speed at which he went down them.
"Brother!" he greeted Loki, opening his arms and enfolding Loki in a hug, clapping him on the back as he would have long ago.

Loki coughed despite himself at the backpat- he didn't think he'd ever be used to that- but his resistance gave out and he more or less clung once he'd adjusted to his temporarily decreased lung capacity.

It was unusual for Loki to embrace back. At first he enjoyed it, then concern crossed his mind, then his features, and he pulled back gently to check his brother's expression.

"Thor. Hi."
Loki pushed his damp hair from his face and tried to smile.

So far, he seemed good.
"You look well," he said. It was generous, but he didn't want to inform his brother he looked wan; he supposed it was behavior like that that had, unnoticed by Thor, driven Loki away.
