"Oh- oh, so he has," Herbert said brightly. "Sorry, just doing my part."

"We'll go over the night's events with our friend Mr. Ashton whenever he's willing to talk, my dear boy," Krolock added, "but our time here is done."
He lifted a hand and added, rather lazily, "I do hope Sarah finds her way home all right."

At the tent, Magda came crashing over one of the barricades at full tilt. She pulled herself up again, too worried to care about the pain.
"Captain!"

Steve froze for a moment before turning with a solemn expression toward the woman he only knew as Mrs. Snape "Mam."

"What happened? Where is my husband? Is he safe- he was already having his bad leg, that's nothing to be worrying over..."
Her voice trailed off as she read his expression. Magda covered her mouth and shook her head.

Steve knew that face too well and knew better than to reach out for her, he kept his thumbs firmly in his belt and attempted to seem stronger than he was "Come with me."
He wouldn't deny her this, he wouldn't hold her back if she just barreled right through him and he's move anyone out of the way that tried to stop her; he never got to see Bucky's body.

Steve took her elbow and moved her through security and emergency personal "Your husband fought very bravely" he knew the words would mean nothing once they got to him.

"She killed him."
Magda's breathing didn't speed up; she didn't need to breathe unless she was speaking, and she had nothing else to say now.
Jess killed him. He sent Magda away, he went back to face his sister, and whatever was left of Jess killed him. He was dead, and there was nothing Magda could do about it.
She was perfectly calm now, and aware of Captain Rogers' arm on hers. The museum was full of caution tape and people in suits and broken glass, and in the temple wing there was a silhouette on the ground and a covered body on a stretcher, under a sheet that was beginning to spot red with blood over the heart.
"Ma'am, if you could please step back-"
Magda ignored the EMT and ripped back the sheet to look down at his face.
Severus's eyes were closed, but there was a trickle of blood coming from one corner of his slackened mouth and his face was still, in death, furrowed in his last agony. There was a deep, wet cavity in the center of his chest.
Magda burst out laughing, unable to help it, though the laugh very quickly dropped to a sob and then cut off altogether.
It was like everything that had happened to her until this point had built up to this awful moment. Once, when she was still young and warm, she'd stood looking over another man in almost the same way, but he looked placid and inoffensive yet was already undead. He wasted no time turning her too, an awful man who only got worse and made her worse too.
And now, here she was, looking down at Severus's cold, agonized face, he the human and Magda herself the vampire, but he'd been impaled, the way Chagal should have been, and both she and Severus had been terrible. But they made each other better, and now he was dead, and she was going to live for centuries.
Magda touched his throat, vainly feeling for even the slightest hint of hope that she could turn him even if it meant finishing this awful symmetry, but there was nothing. He was dead. Jess had killed him.

Some people tried to get passed him and he stared them down "You don't really want to do this." And they didn't of course they didn't "We'll be out of here when she's finished."
He turned to look at the woman he barely met and felt a deep pain in his chest. He couldn't save him and could do nothing for her now besides give her the time she needed.

"He was the bravest man I was ever knowing," Magda said softly.

Steve nodded solemnly, his words weren't necessary right now.
