She came back with the dress in question, a lucky find that had been hanging in the closet of an abandoned dressing room. It was a nice color, and would fit her with a few adjustments.
"Here it is. It's a bit too long, among other things."

*Richard step forward, his eyes focused on the dress in her hands, already sizing it up for alteration, where it would be best to take it in and reshape.*
"Vice nice." *He whispered as his fingers caressed the fabric in study. It was older, but in good enough condition. Without looking up he continued.*
"Are you just looking to fit it or would you like other alterations?"

"I don't know if I could get too elaborate with it."
She glanced at the dress with a sigh.
"Though some of that lace is a bit raggedy."

"Hmm..." *Richard studied the portions she had implied with a discerning eye.*
"Well, depending on what you should like, I could replace it with some new lace, or remove it completely..." *His brow furrowed as he drew up the lower hem of the dress and examined it.*
"Or if I take up enough of the hem, I might be able to extract some of the extra fabric to make a ruffle instead."
*His eyes lifted to hers finally.*
"But really, whatever you'd prefer."

"Maybe...a ruffle? For all that it's nice, the collar's a bit plain. And without the lace, the dress would have a whole new look for it..."
In fact, now that she was thinking more carefully on it, it would resemble a dress she'd owned back in those days when she'd still been a titled woman.

*Richard found himself nodding absent-mindedly. She certainly had a point and it should be easy enough if there was enough salvage at the bottom.*
"Well then. With that decided, I suppose we should make sure that there's enough fabric to manage the alteration. So..."
*His dark lashes fluttered briefly as his eyes dropped to the floor.*
"If you...are in the...foundation garments that you plan to wear with it..."
*It was always so much harder taking female measurements.*

His shyness was endearing...Sorelli just had to smile a bit at that. And, darn it, she was really liking him.
"Of course. I'll be right back." She said amiable, heading over to the folding screen off to the side.
Though it took a bit of contorting to get at the hooks on the back of her dress, she eventually managed to get it off and end up in her foundation clothes. These, at least, were in better condition than the dress.
She walked back out from behind the screen. Modesty had mostly disappeared, thanks to her stint in Persia.
"Is there somewhere I should stand?"

*Richard's modesty hadn't and he shifted his weight a bit and tried to look around the room for something for her to stand on. Eying a foot stool, he quickly retrieved it and set it in an open space in the room.*
"Here. If it's not too difficult to balance on." *He instinctively offered her a hand up, years of British upbringing blatant in his actions.*

"That looks good."
Luckily, it was one of the bits of furniture that was still in good shape. Taking the offered hand, she stepped up onto the stool.
"Thanks."

*Richard gave her a moment, trying to make sure that she was stable.*
"You all right up there?" *He asked with a gentle smile, ready to withdraw his hand but not over eager. It wouldn't do him any good to have her damaging something she might need to perform due to his over-eagerness.*

"Just good. Ballet has given me a better sense of balance."

I'll bet.
*Richard was quick to push the following thought away. She was sweet and a lady and there was no room for such things in professional spheres. He gently urged his hand free and drew his pad and tape from his bag. He started with the easier measurements, those that didn't require that much contact. Height, shoulders...each was dutifully recorded.*

"You know...this brings back memories. It's been far too long since I've had something fitted."
She was talking, mostly to fill the silence, but also because it really DID remind her.

*Richard blinked, confused for a moment as he looked up to her.*
"Did you take a sabbatical?" *He asked politely.*
*He touched the tip of her elbow, urging her arm up that he might measure its length and diameter.*

She moved her arm, thinking on how best to answer that question.
"...yes. I had some troubles that had to be taken care of."
