"Rhetorical question, Loki."

Loki burst out laughing, covering his face with both hands.

Fandral moved shufflingly closer and pulled Loki into another embrace.

Loki went a little tense as he lifted his hands from his face.
"Again with the- the hugging-"

Fandral pulled back to peer into his face, hands still firm on his shoulders.
"Well, I'm admittedly no Volstagg, but I try."

"Thankfully," Loki drawled.
He pulled into himself as much as he could with Fandral's hands still on his shoulders, lifting a hand to ensure his hair hadn't wound over either of his horns or moved to fall limply and unflatteringly in thin hanks over the bare side of his head. It struck him in ways it hadn't before, when it was only him and Teja, the vague grotesqueness of how used to the gesture he'd become. The whole afternoon was becoming rather humiliating, but crumbling would probably just push Fandral into more emphatic gestures of camaraderie. That was the last thing he needed.
"...I ought to warn you," he said, with another broken laugh hovering at the edge of his voice, "that there's a weapon in the shape of a suit of oversized armor in the film that nearly slaughters the girl and her friends."
He wheezed a little, shaking his head and instinctively smoothing his loosened hair back again out of habit.
"Thought you ought to know. I wouldn't want you to think that was some kind of... poor joke... on my part."

"Let's... put off the film," he said firmly. "If Thor enjoyed watching it with you, though, I can't imagine we won't."

"Thor is unusually forgiving," Loki retorted. "Let's not pretend otherwise."

"He may be that," said Fandral easily (he most certainly was), "but not unreasonably so. Don't think his forgiving you is a weakness of his."

"Does anyone else know I'm alive?" Loki asked, moving his hands away from his face and head, trying to let them relax. "Surely Heimdall must have seen me, and known, yet Thor was as shocked as you to find me again."

"Heimdall doesn't say much," said Fandral amusedly. "It seems his vision's spotty here."

Loki nearly laughed, but wasn't sure he had the energy for it anymore. He felt as though his body had undergone a power surge that had left him depleted in its passing.
"...of course we've both been to Vanaheim," he said, thinking back to what Fandral had said earlier, "but I scarcely recall seeing anyone there with Jotun blood whose memory has ever allowed me to look upon myself and think 'ah, yes, the mystery is solved'."

"Well, certainly, you've...."
He looked at him a while and squinted a bit hopelessly.
"You've got ears, and quite a bit of hair for a jotun, but.."

"I know I'm not... entirely," Loki said carefully, in a warning sort of tone that indicated he wanted it left at that. "From what I could gauge there seems to be some kind of atavism at work."
He paused, and then looked at him sidelong, adding, "Not that you seem to mind. Rather stupid of me to expect you would."
He was smirking.

Fandral shrugged modestly, rolling his eyes upwards.
"Well, you are rather stupid, speaking generally."
