"I'm going," Loki said abruptly, striding toward the living room like his temper depended on it. "Come if you want. Stay if you don't."

Fandral exchanged looks with all of them.

Thor moved to go, brow furrowed.

Fandral stopped him.
"I think it would have greater impact if one of us did it," he said in a lowered voice. "As for Sif, somebody tell her, for heavens' sake. She will be furious with us all if we don't give her the choice."

Thor stopped. This was true, and though he feared someone else might set Loki's temper off, he knew that feeling coddled by Thor but shunned by the warriors three would lead to Loki's temper erupting at some later time.
The group exchanged glances.
Hogun spoke up, with the offer to inform Sif of the plans Loki wanted to make. He didn't say anything to this effect, but it was clear Hogun did not desire to go to the motion picture. Thor would speak to persuade them, but he felt the greater problem was Loki's presence, not the film itself. He was certain if he had asked alone, they'd have gone.

...Oh, lovely, it was down to him and Volstagg, and Fandral knew, as he had not thought it through yet, that of course it had to be him, that no one else could possibly relate to Loki as Fandral could. Of the Warriors three (plus one), he was easily the charm of the group.
"Oh, all right, I'll go."
He excused himself from the room and went to follow Loki out.
"Loki-"

Loki was almost to the door. He stopped with his hand on the doorknob and laughed tensely, his mouth stretching into a harsh, bitter rictus grin that he forced himself to drop before he turned around again.
"I suppose you drew the short straw?" he said, sounding very tired despite the careful calm of his face.

"Straw? Oh no," said Fandral, pausing and lightly sweeping his coat back before settling his hands on his hips, looking far more at ease than he felt. "I made the decision to confront you based on the fact of my superior ability to converse."

"I suppose this means you'll want the scenic route," Loki said. "I hope you like tunnels."
He stepped down the front walk of the house and into the sunlight without glamouring back into Midgardian clothing and squinting fiercely, arms crossed as though he was beginning to view the whole thing as a challenge.

Fandral had no idea what this meant and felt faintly uneasy still. It was not Loki's part he was such an offputting creature - literally, he thought with an internal grimace. Once it had been a charm point, but that was a long time ago.
"You did try to kill us," he pointed out, following close behind, not bothering to sweeten it.

"Yes, yes," Loki said dismissively. "In my defense, I've come to feel rather badly about it."

Fandral coughed in his hand to disguise a laugh.
"You didn't feel badly as it happened?"

"I was having a very bad few days," said Loki, as though he'd been dealing with an unpleasant assignment at the office.

"I had long cherished the image of you in tears as you clutched your father's scepter - don't tell me otherwise."

"Oh, that happened too," Loki said brightly, right before promptly ducking down the subway stairs.
