"I think I'll pass. I work best alone."

"That isn't the first time I've heard that" she smiled "in fact it's the second time this month."
She raised her eyebrow "Mr. Stark understand I am not asking you to play nice, I'm just asking you to play."

"Mm-hmm. I have a general idea what others in this business think of me, and I don't do well in a hostile work environment."

"So suddenly you care about what people think of you?" she shook her head.

"I care when it can affect how a team works together. You can't tell me there wouldn't be problems if most of them don't like me."

"Adults acting like children" she frowned "there will be problems with or without you. I'm gathering a volatile group of people here Mr. Stark, good people, people willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of truth, justice and all of those cliche's, but volatile."
She uncrossed her legs and sat in the most unladylike way possible, suddenly looking very at ease "On the other hand, adding you to the mixture isn't exactly putting a fuse on the whole situation. I wouldn't have asked you, if I thought otherwise."

He fell silent for a moment, thinking.
"I don't suppose you can tell me who else is on this team?"

"I didn't lie to you when I told you the three confirmed" she replied "Captain America, Nite Owl and Notre Dame de Paris" she smiled a little when she said the last name, she hesitated before continuing "there's a girl that ran with Nite Owl and Rorschach for a short time, that went by Red Riding Hood. I've spoken to her, but she's-" she huffed out a laugh "-a lot like you, I'm still awaiting her response."

"I know those first two, don't know the rest." Tony said.
He looked thoughtful for a moment.
"All right. I'll help, but the first time I see you're with the government, I'm out. They've been breathing down my neck about the suit, slobbering to get their hands on it. Not gonna happen."

"Trust me we don't want your suit, now the armani's those are another story" she stood up suddenly, all business, and extended her hand "welcome to The Taskforce Mr. Stark."

He gave her a lopsided grin as they shook hands.
"Hey, I might also fight you for the Armanis. You never know."

Returning the smile, she responded, rather mischievously "I'd like to see you win."
Regina released his hand and turned heel toward the elevator "We'll be in touch Mr. Stark."

Heading in to the elevator she turned heel to watch him as the doors closed.
Things were sitting in to place so much easier than she'd expected. Soon enough she'd have all of the most prominent heroes of this world on her side, in one place, working for her goals.
Luthor can keep thinking he's pulling the strings until I don't need him anymore, or until I need a patsy. He'll never know what hit him.
The elevator dinged open and she headed out of the lobby toward the waiting car.
Iron Man, Nite Owl, Notre Dame, Captain America, and hopefully that melodramatic child Red Riding Hood all working for me. The only thing standing in my damn way could be Xavier, if he ever catches wind of me everything could come undone in an instant her face grew dark as she stepped in the car how I long for the days when Erik wasn't whiling away, tending to Xavier's every need.

Tony was contemplative after she left.
This wasn't the first time someone had popped up to ask him for a hand, though this was certainly the first time said asking had been...covert. Usually, as he'd first suspected, it was a technology company after the suits and not really him. And if it wasn't that, it was interviews--what he thought of such-and-such superhero (and the only one he really had a concrete opinion about was one he avoided talking about, since that was a minefield he'd rather not cross). That or it was the government trying to steal his intellectual property. Rarely did people directly ask for Iron Man, save for a personal appearance at an event (which, he regarded wryly, had been a strange sort of echo of what had happened to Steve Rogers once). But this?
A team-up. The last time someone had suggested that, it'd been Bruce Wayne, who he'd guessed some time ago was Batman. And that particular conversation hadn't been a very friendly one. Miss Wilde seemed nice enough, but being both a businessman and Iron Man, he'd learned long ago that appearances could be deceiving. He'd keep an eye out for that one, at least for now. If she proved him wrong, well, he'd apologize later.
