"Are you saying we should get lost a bit?" He shook her gently with a laugh.

She laughed, too.
"Oh, no. It's just really something. It's less weird than most stuff here and it's both out of this world at the same time. Perfect."

"To the hedge maze then."

"And like in the book, the flowers are painted." She said, leading the way.

"This can only be described as quite insane" he smiled "but completely enthralling."

"Oh, yeah. It hasn't gotten to me as much as I thought it would," she said as they walked.
"But I think part of that is because of living in crazy Paris for so long. I'm just so used to weird that I don't even blink at it anymore."
Startlingly, she thought of the world she'd originally come from--something that she hadn't done in years. She really had acclimated so much to the strangeness of the 'verse that it had become the new norm for her, and thoughts of home were distant and almost strange, now. But one thing had remained.
"I still miss my family." She said with a sigh.

He tightened his grip on her waist.
She'd explained to him once about the world she came from, about her family, her friends, everything she no longer had.
It saddened him to think she could never go back.
He had nobody back in his world, Paris had been a welcome change.

She tightened her grip on his arm just a bit.
"Sorry to be such a downer. I just wish there was a way to know how they're doing these days."

"No it's fine" he smiled "you never talk about them, I was worried that maybe you'd forgotten about them."

"I could never. We've always been a close group, even with as big as we are. Your cousins aren't just cousins, you see them on a regular basis, and they're awesome. Everybody is as close as your immediate family would be.
I think I just try not to talk about them because there's no way I can ever go back there, and that'll just make me depressed."

He nodded "I can't imagine what it'd be like to have such a family."

She gave his hand a comforting squeeze.
"You know, I wish you could meet them."

"As do I" he smiled "although I do not know what they would think of a man such as I."

Well, mom would think it's weird because she'd recognize your name...
"I have no idea what you mean by that. I think the only that'd catch anyone off-guard is the piles of money and the mansion." She said, somewhat teasingly.

"Piles of money?" He replied with a laugh "Does the house seem like a bank to you? What with giant vaults in each room?" He shook his head.
