Eleanor sat on the edge of her bed, twisting a strand of her dark hair between slender fingers. Her grey-blue eyes were sad and thoughtful...and full of tears. "Maman, Papa...where are you?" she said out loud to herself, not caring who heard. her head was full of memories, not clear ones, of course, but memories of the faint smell of powder that she was sure her mother had worn.
