"It doesn't matter if you're a demon," said Adrien with a frown both emotional and stubborn. "You're the best man I've ever known."

Crowley pulled out his seat at the kitchen table and sat down.
"Adrien, listen to me. What I said before, about how we're only mentioned in the Bible a few times—well, I've got a whole chapter dedicated to my best work. Genesis 3. Do you remember what happens in that?"

Adrien looked a little bit fearful suddenly.

"Do you?"

"K-kind- maybe."

"It was in a garden a very long time ago. There was a girl named Eve, and she looked hungry, so I offered her some fruit to eat. Then she gave some to her husband and God booted them right out of the garden. Every demon in Hell would be out of a job if I hadn't done that. For a while I was something of a hero down there."

"But if we still lived in the garden we wouldn't be making movies and stuff," Adrien argued, feeling that this argument was very weak and flimsy.

"Can't argue with you there. I get movies working to damn people up here; my brothers and sisters downstairs get to have their fun with said people I work to damn."

"....shouldn't you want me to be a vampire, then?" he asked in a small voice. "Wouldn't I just be doing you a favor if I did that?"

He stared at him. "Seriously? I tell you all that and you want to help me with my job?" He massaged the bridge of his nose. It really did feel naked without a pair of sunglasses resting on it.
"Here's how it works. People live out their lives, they do a lot of good things and a lot of bad things, and then they die. The people who did more good than bad go to Heaven, and the people who did more bad than good go to Hell. The more souls we get, the better chance we have at winning against Heaven during Armageddon. The thing about vampires is, that, well, they don't die. So, no. You wouldn't be doing me a favor at all. Especially considering that I actually like you, Adrien. I'd rather you not end up in Hell. We can afford one less soul."

"Come on, Crowley," he snapped. "I've told you pretty much everything I've ever done. Like I wasn't headed there already."

"You're not, though. I know damned souls, and you're not one of them. Not now, at least. You could be one day, but for now you're still a generally good person. Not perfect by any means, but good."

"Crowley, I just don't care anymore, okay?" he said, exhausted. "It's hard enough as it is. I don't like making decisions, and I usually suck at it anyway, if you hadn't picked up on that by now. How am I supposed to make this choice? I don't want to go to someplace if - even if it's supposed to be good - if you're not- if you're not there-" He sniffed, suddenly losing control of his ability to keep composed, lifting a hand to his face hastily to staunch the flow of tears.

He ran a hand through his hair again. "I can help you find someplace if you need it, but it won't be good for either of us if you stay here."

Tears sprang into his eyes.
"Crowley-"
