"I don't think anything can just be for him. He has to analyse all of it."
There was a very long pause, which for him grew increasingly uncomfortable.
"....except for me. Or maybe he can't understand feelings. Maybe he liked me for that reason."

Crowley held his tongue on what a robot he thought Adrian Veidt was.
"Could be. I don't really get people who have to analyse everything. And, don't get me wrong, I love nothing more than musing over the great mysteries of life, but at some point you just have to sit back and let yourself feel something. We're not Spock."

"I don't know what spock means. But I don't think that's really fair to him - I don't think he has any option. He notices everything. I don't say he's smart as in "lucky him, he's so smart" or "he worked really hard to get that smart". He was born that way, and I think... maybe..."
Adrien swallowed. "Maybe he wishes he wasn't. So he doesn't feel like he has to do the things that he's capable of doing, that other people aren't."

He nodded. "Makes sense, I suppose."

"Man, my life is a mess," he said miserably.

"Hey, everyone's gotta hit bottom at some point. You're just lucky you're getting it out of the way early."

"I already hit bottom before," he moaned. "Every time I think I'm climbing out I'm in a new hole."

He smiled uneasily. "Least you're not homeless."

He laughed bitterly. "Yeah, living with my husband and being completely dependent on 'im, but... not homeless."

"Hey, we'll get you on your feet."

"I don't know about that, Crowley," he said, settling down in the water in a self-deprecating fashion that seemed very unlike him. "I've spent my time with you the way I spend it with most guys - on my back."

Adrien had a point. There probably wasn't much about this relationship that made him feel like things were going to change. And Crowley knew that it couldn't last for ever.
"I want to help you out, though," he said. And he did. It was the least he could do.

Adrien lowered the sunglasses just enough to visibly wink at Crowley in a gesture unknowingly cribbed from Marchetti.
"'S'okay," he said with the smallest of grins, though it was a tired one. "I always do all right."

"Well. Don't be afraid to ask if you want it to be a little easier."

"You've been pretty easy," he said with a wide grin making the euphemism that much more obvious.
