"I'm one of them, aren't I?" Loki snapped savagely.

"I'm going home," she said very suddenly, scurrying off to go get her coat.

"Teja!" he began, brows forming tragic little arcs of disappointment.

"There's a word for that too, Loki! It's called genocide! How can you not understand something so fundamental as genocide being rephrehensible!"

"Don't leave me-" he stammered miserably.

"What do you want me to do, swallow my horror daintily and crawl into your lap-"
She looked more terrified than reproachful.

"Laufey left me to die, Teja, he said I was sickening to look at-" he protested, now sounding completely ragged. "How was I meant to feel for a father who saw me as nothing but an aberrant freak-"
The words seemed almost to hang in the air. Loki swallowed in between anxious, panting breaths.
It was the first time since his ill-fated genuine attempt at peace brokering with Laufey that he had called the Jotun king his father.

She started at him, ashen-faced. It was tempting to go and hold him, but...
No. Loki was a thousand years old. No amount of broken-ness excused a snappish statement in support of genocide, followed by complete refusal to take it back and statements to justify it. And being a jotun himself he was doing himself no favors with that kind of hatred.
"Hate him," she said simply, "as I hate my father. Decide that it doesn't matter whether or not he's your biological parent; he's not your father if he doesn't act like one, if he's not worthy of it. But hate to kill all jotnar that ever lived, and ever could live, to the point of thinking they deserve to die?" Her voice trembled, thick and low with passionate disgust. "No."

"...I'm not going back to Asgard," said Loki, after a pause. "Ever."

"Loki, I'm frustrated that you will not rethink this genocidal stance on jotnar!" she shouted, hands clenching in midair as she tried to gesture something that would somehow solve all of this.

"You said you wanted to make me better, didn't you?" he pleaded.

"I'm not going to console you for having vile thoughts! If I want you better I want you morally better, too- you - there is no way you can expect me to think anyone capable of that kind of stance should ever rule anywhere!"

"It would have been a mercy killing," he muttered. "They've been dying ever since Father took their casket-"

"Oh, great," she said, bitterly. "Lovely of you to have learned how to deal with an entire race by declaring fucking superiority and sentencing them to death from a jerk who belittled you all your life-"

Loki averted his eyes, a little to the side, looking desolate.
