"Then you are superior in obedience. Was he the man you were drinking with?"

"- yes. He also threw the candle." He looked down.

"Shameful," he said, hopefully in a way that conveyed this was a judgment on Mercutio and not the both of them.

It didn't work. He flinched.

That gave what he had glimpsed of Tybalt's last night in Verona an infuriating new dimension. Fortunate for Mercutio too that armed expansion of Latveria's borders was unfeasible at this time or he'd be receiving more than a public whipping, the insufferable fool.
"He goaded you to it, didn't he? You were merely answering his challenge."

"He... may have. He is not the only man in Verona." His voice had softened. Generally he would be quick to pin blame on Mercutio (although his own stupid willingness to respond was Tybalt's fault alone) for staring a fight, but Doom's behavior made him terrified for Mercutio's life. Mercutio was many awful things, but, unsettlingly, the thought of anyone assaulting him (anyone else) wrought knots in Tybalt's stomach.

"Then you have nothing to be ashamed of in your conduct."

"Except being completely unable to resist him-" said Tybalt darkly, voice suddenly hoarse, a very clear tinge of humiliation to it.

"He issued a challenge and you answered it," Doom stated insistently. "A man may have a rival."

"That would imply I am his equal, which I am not," Tybalt muttered. "He has always been ahead of me. I am only the better soldier, and even that has had little impact on him."

He continued circling him, sensing more discomfort from Tybalt at this line of questioning than from being viewed fully undressed. They were both men, after all, and his scarred back was more upsetting to look upon.
"He's a coward. If he should trouble you again in Doom's employ, I assure you, he will never do so again--"
A casual glance had not sufficed, and his cold stare was now fixed on the scars raking Tybalt's thighs, clearly arrived at in no battle.

Eyes fixed firmly downward, he continued to remove the pants.

Victor was in no position to remark on self-inflicted scars. He did not inquire.

Tybalt put his clothing aside and looked through what was available, trying to find something as close as possible to what he ws comfortable with.

"You will receive the rest of your effects once you've shown yourself to be responsible."
Not the various weapons, though, that was pushing it. Victor's gaze remained squarely on Tybalt's legs, mildly uncomfortably.
