He glanced idly up again at the mirror behind the bar shelves and suddenly inhaled hard enough to make a sucking sound.
He slid off the stool in a hurry and seized Teja's wrist to tug her away.

She did, her heartbeat going into panic mode, glancing over her shoulder trying to glimpse what he'd seen to upset him.

With the anti-vampire rules in effect, the undead of New York who desired to attend anything but specialized Goth clubs had had to develop little glamours to make sure they showed up in mirrors. A few enterprising magicians then collaborated to make and sell glamourproof mirrors that exposed vampires for what they were.
Loki was not a vampire, but as he hurried away, if one looked at the mirror, they would catch a glimpse of ridged blue skin and ruby-red eyes until he was out of its range.
"...we'll order from a table," he muttered.
