Pretty much the first thing Teja's co-worker Madison said when she took off her coat was, "And who are you trying to impress, exactly?"
She was wearing a high-waisted, short-hemmed skirt and a blouse with a very low-cut v-neck with tall boots and had done her hair for once, and it was entirely obvious there was some kind of special occasion at hand. She flashed Madison a grin and told her she had a coffee date after work.
"With up-and-coming politician Lukas Ashton," she said with a jaunty little head-toss. "You haven't heard of him - yet. But he's going to be running for mayor-"
Turning on the register, Madison started to laugh. "Ohh, so this is a power thing for you?"
Teja lauged, a little embarrassed. "Well, it wouldn't exactly hurt to have the mayor of New York City's ear.... but no. Yesterday I went to this fundraising event at the Plaza Hotel because my friend Megan is Adrian Veidt's personal assistant and she didn't want to be bored, and -" She started giggling. "I.... I actually met someone."
"Ohhh?"
"Nothing happened! Except we're meeting after my shift and.... well, I didn't want to look too much like a business-lady but I can't exactly come to work like I'm going to a club. How does it work?"
"Turn to the side."
She did.
"You wanna bang him, don't you?"
Teja shrieked. "Do not! I mean - not now-" Madison was too busy laughing at her. It was an often-discussed topic, and this was the first time an interest in anybody, even in the abstract sense, had come up.
"Jesus, he better be some man, or I'm going to laugh at you."
Teja threw a pen at her head.

As noon approached, Teja started very obviously biting her lip and gazing out the glass window to see if anyone was coming, to the point of falling behind on what she was doing.
"What's he look like? I can keep an eye out for you-"
A couple customers glanced over at her, amused. A little pink, Teja said, "He's - he's - nevermind, I'll know when he's here. How do I look?" she asked anxiously.
A girl who was sniffing her sprayed wrist with a thoughtful expression looked over at her. "Well, kind of like a dominatrix."
"What?"
"Well, between the choker and the boots and the vinyl miniskirt- I mean, are you hoping to get lucky?"
Teja looked like she wanted to die.
