Well. He certainly was handsome, and she couldn't say she'd mind having him around for a few weeks. She turned over her shoulder and gave a small, welcoming smile.
"You must be Cesare. Kathleen de Winter," she introduced before dropping into a perfectly graceful curtsey. She met his eyes as she rose.

Fair skin, red hair, bright eyes, and that dress in green. Cesare couldn't help but hold her gaze. But, as always, Cesare never missed a beat; he promptly lowered himself into a gentlemanly bow.
"A pleasure to meet you, Miss de Winter," he said, unable to hide his usual smirk. "I can see that my sister has robbed me of the pleasure of introducing myself."
He gave Lucrezia a glance both mischievous and loving.

"As you are her favorite topic of conversation, I believe I am safe in saying I know much more about you than you about me."

He chuckled.
"I hope all that knowledge won't keep us from ever becoming friends," he said in a charming, self-deprecating manner. "And perhaps my time here will remedy my ignorance of you."

Lucrezia was quite excited that they seemed to be getting on. Not that she had any doubts, of course.
"See, I told you he was horrendously handsome!" she said proudly as she embraced him around his waist.

"Uh, yes, that you did," Kat commented, not letting him know one way or another (though she did agree). Only Lucrezia would have actually reiterated that in front of the subject of discussion.

Cesare smiled and returned her embrace.
"You must excuse my sister. Her sense of modesty--" he said, glancing downwards at Lucrezia, "--becomes diluted with excitement."

"I'm quite aware," Kat laughed, looking over at her friend. "I've had my virtues extolled in front of the King. It's a good thing you're charming, Lucrezia, otherwise nobody would want to be around you for fear of embarrassment," she teased.

"It wasn't anything His Majesty didn't already know," she mock-whispered to her brother.

"There. We've been equally embarrassed; now we're even."

Cesare chuckled at their little exchange.
"And are you close to the King, Miss de Winter?" he asked.
He was merely curious.

Cesare smirked. Smart girl.
"Moderately," he repeated. "I assume that implies room for growth?"

"Should His Majesty desire," she responded. It was the way of everything at court... and she didn't like being at others' disposal.

"I see," he said without giving anything away... not that there was much to reveal.
