"I might as well be sore all at once-"

Tybalt scratched his head. "I have to say I don't know what you're talking about at all."

"...I was thinking we could... you know-"

He looked and after a moment, turned his head a millimeter to trying say 'yes, go on?'

"...amuse ourselves. In the carriage."

Tybalt began to say, with a flat expression, "What on earth's amusing in a carriage ride-" before his eyes widened a tad and he stopped and forcefully swallowed. ".....yes, ah, we should."

"And go to the Bois after sundown."

"...why would we go there?"

"I think I'd like to swim."
Herbert said this decisively, standing to smooth his hopelessly wrinkled clothes.

"I'm trying to be a good host," Herbert retorted, mock-sternly. "If you don't want to come, I won't stop you. It just seemed to me that it would make a good outing."

He knew how to swim, but only as a necessity. Even when he'd learned the skill he had had to force himself to stay focused in the water so as to stave off some kind of panic attack. It was the only thing in all his life he could recall Aunt Diana really working hard to get him not to study, particularly given that even in learning to swim he'd almost drowned early on after working himself up into enough anxiety to seize in the water.
"I don't swim," he said, averting his eyes stubbornly.

"...oh. Well. All right."
Herbert looked a little disappointed.
"I'm going to get my cloak. Do you still want to come for the ride, at least?"
