*The girl sat quietly in the garden. Shutting her eyes, she savored the near-quietness that surrounded her. It wasn't anything elegant or grand, but it smelled freshly of the earth, that cool dampness that brought with it promises of things fresh and green.
It was easier for her to find peace here. She'd been trying so hard to learn all the lessons that John had helped her with, but sometimes it was more simple than others. And well...the people that needed his help often had their own...baggage. She still couldn't shut them out, but she did what she could not to flee at the slightest sight of them. And as he had helped her hone her "gift", she had started to notice other developments. Not all the time, but in places like this, in the quiet they offered, she had begun to see the hints of life coursing through the plants as they grew. Nothing grandiose, but a subtle glow, like filtered sunlight.
It made her smile softly to herself as she inhaled deeply the warmth of the patch of nature around her, lost in her own private moment.*

Out on the other side of the gardens Vincent was washing out the laundry tubs. He'd been there and noticed Johns young daughters attempting to pull them out of the small laundry room to wash them, and decided they had more important things to take care of than some menial task such as this.
He'd finished with the first one and stood up to stretch, that's when he noticed the quiet girl across the way.
She'd acted strange around him from the moment he'd arrived there, but he'd always just ignored it. People tended to act strange round him, and with the knowledge that John would hire anyone, who's knows what the girl had been through.
Deciding to be civil he walked to the other side of the garden "S'nice day eh Ms. Lost?"

*The girl's eyes opened sharply, turning skittishly towards the sound. But upon recognition, she forced her body to relax a little. There were just...so many of them with him. Her lips pursed briefly before she managed them into a smile. Her gaze dropped shyly and she shrugged.*
"I suppose...the sun is nice. And the breeze."
*It made her feel rather simple to say it like that, like she was some lost child making crude observations about the world. She couldn't really help it. Her people skills were still relatively questionable and well...she still found it weird to be called Ms. Lost. Like it was a proper surname or something. She'd never had a proper...well, anything really. At least until John gave her a room, a job and a purpose.*
"Are you...doing alright?" *She spoke softly, trying to practice that art of conversation.*

"Um..." *Her brow furrowed a bit in thought. It shouldn't be that hard of a question, right?*
"I'm fine." *The girl manage to blurt unceremoniously. She tried to soften it by adding*
"Just...a little hungry, maybe?" *Shouldn't she know one way or the other? As it was, she peaked up at him, her brows lifting adorably.*

"But you already..." *The girl started to protest, but she thought better of it. If Mr. Dawson was in fact trying to better himself and right as many wrongs as he could, who was she to deny him the smallest pleasure of doing something for someone else? She nodded tightly, remembering to keep smiling, though it was easier now.*
"That would be nice. Thank you." *She stood, waiting for him to head on in ahead of her. It seemed only proper in some way, since he'd be doing the work this go round.*

"Uh..." *She blinked, mouth agape for a moment. The girl definitely hadn't seen that one coming. She had figured him for a meat and potatoes sort of fellow. But she had been trying to learn that looks can be deceiving. She blushed a little as her eyes fell.*
"I...I don't know what those are." *She whispered, ashamed by her lack of worldliness.*

He smiled "Italian, well-" he went in to the cupboards and found some long noodles and went in to the cooler to find some fresh tomatoes, garlic, etc. "How about good ol fashioned spaghetti?"

*She brightened at his concession, nodded a bit too eagerly. Then she thought better of it and his feelings.*
"I mean, those other things are fine too." *She offered.* "No reason you need to waste your skills just because I don't know any better. I'll try whatever you want to make." *The girl's smile was tentative, unsure of where they stood.*

*Her nose crinkled slightly at the thought. Spaghetti was pretty simple right? At least, she'd always thought so. Simple, but filling. It's not that she wouldn't be completely satisfied with it, especially since he'd been kind enough to make it.*
"I...I trust your knowledge on it." *The girl frowned for a moment at her own statement. She really was quite terrible at this, wasn't she?*
"I'm sure it will be delicious." *She promised.*

He smiled and began chopping the onions, garlic and mashing the tomatoes to make the sauce. He hummed a little tune as he threw the noodles in the water. He always felt more at home in the kitchen than anywhere else, it put him at peace completely.
He was visibly more comfortable as he moved about.

*The girl's head quirked to one side as he started up in a flurry of familiar motion. Mr. Dawson always had a sense of ease about him, but this was different. Something more...natural. As he continued on, she stepped forward cautiously. She was fascinated by the dance, but was worried about being under foot. And in time, things started to smell good. Really good. Her stomach grumbled audibly and she chastised herself privately.*
