Javert considered this for a bit, but then nodded and got up once more. "I'll go get it."
The inspector walked back to the sitting room. The pipe was easy enough to find, his skill in searching was after all the stuff of legends. Well, the legends Lambert was prone to regaling, anyway. Still, it was true. Javert was more than able when it came to locating things in other people's homes.
The officer walked back with the pipe and tobacco. It would be nice to enjoy a smoke with Jason... relaxing, insofar Javert ever relaxed.

Jason took it from him when he sat back down and packed the bowl, tamped it and handed it back to Javert, leaning foreward to refill their glasses.
"It's all yours, I've quit," he chuckled and sat back again with his glass, hooking his bracers off his shoulders and looking quite relaxed.

"Won't you even share with me?" Javert sat back down and took some gentle puffs.
The inspector leaned back, one arm stretched out across the back of the sofa, and closed his eyes for a few moments.
"I assure you that the tobacco is indeed good."

He turned his head to look at the older man and smiled a bit.
"No, my dear Inspector, I will appreciate the flavor vicariously."
And he leaned up when Javert pulled the pipe to touch his lips to the other man's.

Javert couldn't help but chuckle against the other man's lips, but kissed him nevertheless. Jason and fine tobacco... an excellent combination indeed.
"Why, inspector Cluont. I had never expected you to take such blatant advantage," he teased.

That turned him scarlet and he cleared his throat and sat back a bit.
"Advantage? I wouldn't..."

Suddenly Javert had found a new purpose in life, a true quest... making Jason Cluont blush!
Had the inspector been the sort of man who thought in terms like 'adorable', his mind would have likely applied that word to the other man's red face. Luckily, Javert's mind didn't work in such ways and the older man merely chuckled.
"I'm just teasing you."

"Yes, well...I know that."
He was put off now, though, with so much attention brought to the situation and he sat uncomfortably on the sofa, his hand tight around his glass. Without the fever loosening his brain, he even felt nearly indecent at his state of dress and quickly hooked his braces back over his shoulders and sat up a bit straighter.

Javert shook his head a little, but didn't object. Instead, he took a few more puffs from the pipe.
The inspector closed his eyes, just taking a few moments to enjoy the tobacco and Jason's company.
"I can't help but wonder to what kind of horrors Lambert will expose me tomorrow," he mused. "Perhaps he'll bring half a bakery. Or why stop there? The entire store."

"You really should put that boy to rights. It's not appropriate, the way he follows you around--to the point of neglecting his other duties. Not to mention what the men say about the two of you. It's bad for morale."
Or something.
Jason was in a foul mood now, or perhaps not so much "foul" as usual for him. Glowering and serious.

"I wish I could, Jason... but I fear nothing short of murder will deter the idiot boy." Every now and then, the option seemed appealing.
Javert idly reached out a hand to stroke the other man's arm.
"You needn't actually worry about him... you know that, right?"

"Murder might be just the thing," he gruffed, reddened and cleared his throat and moved away so there was a good foot of space between them.
"What I mean is, the boy is close enough to earning his mark as Inspector. We should put him to his own case and see how he handles being the point on a murder investigation."

"His own case?" Now it was Javert's turn to grumble. "I wouldn't trust that foolish boy to babysit a cat..."
Needless to say, the inspector wasn't a cat person.
"Then again, it might finally prove him unfit for the force, which is worth something... but not as much as catching a murderer."

"I don't believe him unfit at all. He simply needs to re-direct his energy. Away from you."
Jason downed the rest of his drink and poured another.
"Don't you think once he's experienced the utter...thrill of catching his own killer he'll be more interested in doing his job? If not, I will have him reassigned to a smaller burough."

"I think he'll faint at the sight of the body." Javert puffed on his pipe a bit more. "Or get himself killed."
He sighed.
"But I shall put trust in your knowledge of the boy, Jason. Assign him to some low-profile murder... nothing too complicated. We'll see what he's made of."
