*She gave Manon's hands a squeeze, trying to draw some comfort from the contact*
"Maybe...I should move on. It's a bit pathetic that it's my whole world, and...well, I don't know how long I could live there with Marius under the same roof."
*She smiled at Manon*
"I would really appreciate it if I could stay here. I promise I'll do my share of the work around the house. It's time I...moved on."
*She sounded terrified by this prospect, but at the same time, thee was a little thrill behind it. The thrill of doing something on her own*

*She nodded, thrilled to have her staying there, but terribly nervous at the same time.*
"If you need to, of course you can stay here. As long as you like."

*On an impulse, she gave Manon a hug*
"Thank you so much! I don't know what I would do if I didn't know you."

*Manon returned the hug awkwardly, but forced a laugh.*
"Well, you'd still be out there in the rain, for one thing."

*Lisette laughed softly*
"That sounds dreadful."

"Very much so. You're soaking, by the way. Aren't you freezing?"

*Now that Manon pointed it out, she was feeling cold. She glanced down at her dress*
"Oh..."
*She was muddy, as well*
"I'm so sorry...I hope I didn't ruin your clothes."

*Manon shook her head.*
"It's fine, they can be washed."
*She looked at her with concern.*
"Do you have any clothes or possessions of yours? Something dry to wear, at least?"

*She shook her head, glancing at Manon sheepishly*
"I...ran off without thinking."

"That's alright" *she said quickly.* "I think we're about the same size- you can borrow something of mine for now."

*The sheepish smile turned into a grateful one*
"Thank you so much. I'll have to wait until the rain lets up before I can even get home and gather my dresses together."

"Of course- No one should be out in weather like this."
*She glanced at the window, where the rain was still beating down heavily.*

*She frowned at the rainstorm. While it wasn't unseasonable, it was unusually fierce*
"Goodness. Are we going to have to build a boat?"

"I certainly hope not- it doesn't look like it'll let up any time soon."
*She walked to the window and looked out, to find that she could hardly see anything. With the clouds it was far too dark for the afternoon, and the rain made any other visual impossible. A sudden flash of lightning and deafening crack of thunder made her jump.*

"Eeep!"
*She burst into giggles at her own reaction*
"You'd think I'd never seen lightning or heard thunder!"
