*The Doctor's face falls, suddenly showing the wear of the years.* Yeah... I do. Get lonely. They grow up so fast, don't they? And then they want stability. "No more companions, now, I mean it! They just keep getting younger." Well so do I, don't I? Can't help it if they all get old and leave me behind... Mind you, the tin dog is nice and all, but hardly what a bloke wants in a companion. Am I right?

Marianne's eyes filled with tears in for the lonely man in front of her, and for her own inner suffering. Without warning she leaned in close and embraced him, then let him go just as quickly.
"I'm sorry," said, her voice choked with emotion.

*The Doctor looks down in confusion at Marianne. Such emotion these humans produced. True, he himself did tend to shout a lot, but that was altogether different. For effect, and whatnot.* Don't be sorry. What's troubling you? *He hoped it was cybermen or something. Now that, he could handle.*

Susanna smiled at Sayuri. "Nice to meet you~ I'm Susanna." Susanna took another look at this big mess in that room and sighed. "That one strange gentleman was feeding these sheep. He had a white mask and was acting quite strange...do you know him?"
After about an hour of cleaning, they sat down to take a well earned break. "May I ask how you came to the this opera house?"

Marianne shrugged her slender shoulders, trying to hold back tears for fear of looking stupid. "I'm so sorry, I don't mean to burden you with my petty troubles... it's just... well, I'm sure you're much more lonely than I am, but I feel that way too, sometimes. See, my husband... I thought he loved me, but he's never home, and never spends time with me, and always goes out with other women! I don't know if I love him anymore, but it still hurts..."

You poor thing. Did you marry him with the understanding that he would be faithful to you? *Humans were so hung up on that; it was much harder to promise a lifetime of anything when you lived as long as he.* There's no quantifying loneliness. You are, or you aren't.

Marianne looked hurt, but pensive. "Do you think it's alright to betray someone who loved and trusted you?" she queried thoughtfully. "Maybe... I don't know, maybe my expectations were too high for him... maybe I'd be better off with a temporary relationship. What do you think?"

*Wander in.* I heard the sheep liked carrots.*Looks mock surprised at Marianne.* Oh hello my love!, what brings you here?

No, *he says gently.* No, I don't think it's right. But I have to confess, as a marriage counselor, I'm pretty unqualified. I mean, living for hundreds of years means pretty much every relationship is temporary, doesn't it? From where I'm looking, it seems silly to waste the precious little time you humans have worrying about people who aren't worth it. *He looks up to see Raoul.* Oh, hullo. You'd be this fair maid's husband, then?

Marianne turned to see Raoul enter the room, and her face fell. "Oh - hello, Raoul," she replied, with a tremulous smile.

Marianne pointed at the brunette in the corner. "That's the reason he left in such a hurry. It wouldn't do to be in the same room as your wife and one of your many lovers, would it?" She smiled quickly, but her lips trembled. She tried to put on a stoic expression. "Afer all our conversations, I... I think you understand me, Doctor. I haven't been able to say that about anyone for a while."

((I didn't even notice she was there for a while... its getting really hard to be Raoul. He can't hit on anyone without someone else being there...))

Oh. Well, I'm flattered, even if that's, you know, a bit sad. *He glances at the girl in the corner.* Always the quiet ones, innit? Well. What do you want to do about it, then?

Marianne stared at him for a moment before flinging her arms around his neck, a lone crystal tear slipping down her cheek. ((This is getting silly! Does Marianne have a chance with the Doctor or not? No commitment necessary, just a fade in-fade out... I just gotta hit that. ))
