((I'm voting for cookie dough.))
*Seraphina jumped slightly as the door closed behind her. She could see someone holding up a match and decided to walk that way. She came up behind the redhaired...girl, trying not to scare her.* Excuse me, but do you know where, exactly, we are? *Her soft voice cut through the quiet, though hopefully not enough to startle anyone too badly*

Edward stared at the woman, hoping that she had run out of shoes to throw in his general direction.

*Alex stepped in front of Edward instinctively, wondering at the same time why she bothered. He had knives for hands, after all. She frowned at the woman.* Weren't you throwing shoes at us, before? *She looked down at the woman's feet. One shoe. Hmm.* We're above the stage. 'S about as exact as I can get, I'm afraid.

At Alex's words, Edward looked down, then nodded to Seraphina. "No more shoes?"

*Seraphina blushed slightly, a bit embarrassed by her behavior* Yes, I was throwing shoes...but you wouldn't come out and it's possibly dangerous out on a dark roof! What did you expect me to do?

Don't take kindly to orders, myself, *Alex said.* Unless there's a bed involved somewhere. But I'm sorry if I scared you. I was just making the acquaintance of this gentleman; didn't want to startle him too much. Or... uh... disturb your dance.

*Seraphina blushed deeper at that* Um...it's fine. Um... *She extended her right hand gracefully to Alex while nodding over Alex's shoulder to Edward ((names 'cuz I'm feeling too lazy to describe them. Bleh.))* I'm Seraphina.

Edward only watched the exchange between Seraphina and Alex. He smiled slightly when she nodded a greeting to him.

*Alex bent over Serafina's hand.* Alex Abercrombie-O'Toole, at your service. And this is... Edward. *Edward was oddly silent. Oddly in the sense that people weren't usually that quiet, not in the sense that this was anything different from what Alex had already observed in him. She wondered if he was touched in the head. Most likely. She had a cousin like that. Shame.* What brings you to the... er... upper reaches of an opera house at night?

*Seraphina shrugged* Just...looking around. And then the shoe thing.

*Alex quirked an eyebrow.* Hunh. Yeah, it happens. *This was the strangest opera house she'd ever seen. No one worked, yet there was a steady stream of people in and out, all gorgeous, and all apparently provided with food, lodgings and pocket money.* Maybe I'd best be more specific; you a singer?

*Seraphina hesitated. She hadn't really thought about what she was going to do here.* Um, I...I...um...no. I haven't auditioned or- or anything. I'm here to find my cousin, who is avoiding me, and I'll figure out what I'm doing here otherwise at a later date.

Edward, who had stopped really listening to the conversation started looking around the mess of rafters and roped that surrounded them. Out of curiousity, he reached out to touch a nearby rope. When he nearly cut it through, he drew his hand back, and watched as the reminder of the rope frayed, then snapped, sending a sandbag falling to the floor below. he leaned over the edge and watched it bounce, wincing when it hit the stage with a dull thud.

*Seraphina jumped when she heard the sandbag fall* Good gravy! *She looked down at the stage, then looked back up with a sheepish smile* Sorry. I don't seem to handle noises in the dark very well...
