((Sure. You start.))
"Function, perhaps?"
*Christine looked around doubtfully*

"Well, size is the simplest..." *cassie handed Christine a duster*
*as they began to dust off the ancient props, she began singing to herself...*
((okay i cant find lyrics but it's gonna be the doll song from tales of hoffman...))

*Erik smiled wistfully ((what? he totally can!)) at the sound of his angel's voice, lifted again in delicate, unthinking song. He had trained her well, and took pride and pleasure in her lessons and performances alike--but there was something about this unfettered loosing of melody that pleased him more. She loved singing. It was in her blood. That was why she had come back to the Opera.
To him.
Another voice joined hers in counterpoint, blending and not diminishing Christine's brilliance one whit. Soon, Erik vowed, he would approach Christine again. She had chosen him when faced with the choice before; she would do so again.*
((I know I've screwed with your continuity about who sings first, but let me be poetical and ignore that.))

((aww, i feel special))
*as they were singing, Cassie immediately stopped, sensing something off...*
"Christine... i think somebody's here..."
*she set down the skull she had been polishing and looked around...*

((okay she's offline. so now i have decided that she left. Erik, this is your cue to interrogate me or summat. no romantic interest by the way, I'm an EC shipper...))
*Cassie looked around nervously.*
"Hello?"
*She began to sing again, as she knew that singing always made her calm down...*
"*sung* Le chanson d'Olympia...."

((*Bounces* me too! I LOVE Sumi Jo singing it~ I have the recording where she holds the final Eb6 for 10 seconds! Try the Bell Song from Lakme and the Jewel Song from Gounod's Faust~ Those two'll probably get him to come out of the shadows. ))

((I've never heard it. I love the story it's from, though.))
*Erik was pulled from his reverie as one of the voices, the one that held him entranced, was suddenly removed. The other girl had decent pitch, but she was clearly untrained and did not inspire him to the heights of foolishness her late companion had.
Not quite, anyway.*
"Where has Mademoiselle Daae gone, little songbird?" *He pitched his voice to sound as though it came from the opposite side of the room.*

((well you see he was here before and im totally trying to be a little matchmaker between him and Christine, who is my bud...))
*Cassie finished the Doll Song and transitioned a few seconds later into the Jewel Song from Faust, as the silence unnerved her...*
((you're totally there, Erik.))

*she let out a squeak and turned around, seeing nobody, she replied:*
"I'm not sure. We were singing, and then she was gone... she was helping me clean the props, you see. I needed help and singing seemed the best way to pass the time..."
((i think it might be on iTunes. It's pretty common, a basic aria for sopranos. it goes high.))

*Erik chuckled. He'd forgotten how delightful it was to frighten the denizens of the opera. These little girls were somewhat too easy prey; but they were resilient, as well.*
"What a dedicated little helper you are. Tell me; how long have you known Mlle Daae?"

"Not very long, Monseiur Erik, but certainly long enough to know the history between you two..."
*she looked indignant.*
"And certainly my voice isn't so bad as to be laughable. i heard that chuckle, you know."
((our convo was on the roof, in the most recent topic...))
