Adrian looked around for something to cover them during the short distance from the plane to the waiting car and had to settle for a newspaper.

His legs weren't as long as Adrian's, but he hurried along with him.
When they were in the car, he gently touched Adrian's cheek, and slid his fingertips down to his jaw, painting a trail of raindrops. His smile widened.

There was another few moments' wait as their baggage was loaded and the driver got in on the other side of the partition.
The sky outside was a murky dark blue.

Adrien slipped into Adrian's arms. New York was such a... a modern-looking city. He peered over Adrian's shoulder at the lights outside.

There was a large manmade island perched a mile or so offshore, connected only by a battered, ruined bridge. Adrian, from their vantage point passing it on the main bridge, seemed to be pointedly avoiding looking at it.

He fell silent for a moment.
