Adrien was twirling in the plane aisle. There was no one there at the moment but them - Adrian hadn't piloted this time, which was beyond nice - and no one was there to watch Adrien dance about.
Which was good, because he was clearly too exhausted to do anything with any vigor. He looked like a fairy that had been conked on the head and was slowly spiralling down into the flower bed, however much it wanted to fly.

Across from the row of seats there was a desk, and Adrian was sitting behind it, going through a few papers but now and again looking up at Adrien with a great deal of fondness.
"Adrien- Adrien, come here and sit down, love, you look disoriented."

He sank into the chair next to him, practically quivering from exhaustion, like a racehorse winding down.

"Sleep would not be bad for you at the moment," he said, stroking aside the long bangs of Adrien's hair.

"I'm scared about America," he murmured, tilting his head back into the seat cushions and peeping out beneath the blond curtain of hair.

"Paris is becoming more like America all the time."

"But not my Paris," Adrien reminded him. "You said America is more conservative than France - and I'm worried there will be photographers everywhere like in London - and - "
He bit his lip, thinking about something completely different, and sort of leaning on Adrian's shoulder with a sigh.

"People may shout things at us. You must pretend not to notice."

He looked afraid at this, but he just looked afraid in general.
After a quiet moment, he said, "Adrian?"

"There's going to be war soon, isn't there."

Adrian didn't answer at first.

"Adrian?" he asked a little desperately. "There is, isn't there? I'm never going to be twenty..."

"It's..."
Adrian paused and weighed the options in his head. On the one hand, things hadn't quite reached their final tipping point, and if all went according to plan the war wouldn't happen anyway. On the other...
"You will, I promise."

"Are you sure?" he asked quietly, after watching him intently for a moment. "Are you certain that's not why you consented to be engaged so quickly as this, because you didn't think we'd have very long anyway?"
