*He sat down next to Andrew, swinging his feet like a happy 5-year-old.*
"Well, to tell the truth, it took a long time. I only really realized how much I loved singing after my roommate caught me singing in the shower and encouraged me to pursue it.*

*Andrew tried not to imagine the scene and turned his face away for a moment, but nodded.*
"I like plenty of things...but I've never really loved anything. Except maybe my books. Or my pianoforte. But that sounds...terrible. I mean, I should say I love horseback riding and hunting and sport...and...and I like those things, but..." *he shrugged.*

"Well, I loved books and pianoforte. I never loved horseback riding, or hunting. I didn't even like hunting. I despised hunting--the first time my father brought me along, I ended up vomiting and riding home to my mum. Some eldest son I am, huh?"

*Andrew smiled a little.*
"My father never went after a creature to kill it. He said even a housecat will swipe at you if you chase it into a corner. ...Though I've got a pet falcon...and mice, well...they're mice, aren't they? I let the falcon eat them--that's nature. It's not like I've got any use for them."

"Try telling my younger sister that--when she was seven, she 'rescued' a mouse from the housecat, not knowing that it was pregnant. Then again, she kept budgies, canaries, a hedgehog, a teacup Yorkshire terrier, and I think she was working on my mother to get her some kind of Australian lizard when I left. The farthest I went pet-wise was my pony horse, Waffle."

*Andrew grinned.*
"I'll have a sister once my parents' timeline catches up with this one and they get beyond their neurosis long enough to boink at least once."
"I prefer hounds, myself. Not for hunting...more for company."
((Gotta run to driving lesson. Back around three, hopefully.))

*He grinned.*
"The hounds were the only reason I kept hunting with my dad."

*Andrew nodded.*
"I prefer Scottish deerhounds, myself. They're so loyal and graceful."

*He chuckled a little.*
"Irish wolfhounds here. I had a favorite named Mac who slept in my room with me when I was little."

"Osiris still sleeps on the foot of my bed. He's getting so old, now--I haven't the heart to make him leave."

"More than once I've awoken to a large mass of wolfhound in my face--he knew to climb in after I'd gone to bed, and to climb out before my father came in. Father didn't approve of him being in the house at all--some nonsense about how dogs belonged in a kennel."

*Andrew snorted.*
"The other dogs all slept in the kitchens--it's warmer there...and they'd go for scraps of food."
*He chuckled.*
"One time my brother and I snuck into the pantry to look for tarts after we were supposed to be in bed. We heard footsteps in the corridor so we just dove into this mass of sleeping wolfhounds and burrowed underneath them as far as we could--very tame creatures. They barely blinked at us. The butler came in and shone his candle about but ignored the sleeping dogs, then went off on his rounds to the other end of the house. We could scarcely draw breath but feared to laugh until we knew he was gone."
*He shook his head.*
"Crawled out. Got the tarts. Had a feast, then went back to the nursery and no one was the wiser until the next morning when we were discovered with jam all over our faces."

"You have a brother?"

"Tony. He's my best friend in the world."

"What age difference? I had younger siblings, but all sisters."
