This was clearly the place. It wasn't exactly easy to miss, as, well, distinctive as it was. Monumental was clearly the only word for it. Not that it intimidated Yomiko as she politely waited for Azula to enter first before strolling into the art-deco Egyptian lobby.
"I suppose we'll have to check in with the secretary first, to be polite...maybe..." she suggested, hoping to start things off reasonably.

"That would be best given our host's known resources," Azula agreed, stepping in a few seconds later, gaze alert as she took in the lobby, one hand at her side with two fingers extended just in case. She didn't trust him. She didn't want to be here. But Yomiko did and letting her step into the line of fire alone was *not* an option.

It gave Yomiko an uneasy feeling, too, and Azula's hunches (she'd found) were often right. She nodded, cautiously, stepping over to the counter and making momentary small talk with the secretary.
"Well...no, we don't have an appointment, per say..."

"Then I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few weeks," the secretary replied. "Mr. Veidt doesn't see people on such short notice-"

"He'll want to make arrangements to see us," Azula interupted smoothly, stepping in and catching the secratary's gaze in her own, "We've seen signs of his former 'aprentise' Micaela and I, for one, am pretty sure he'd rather Azula of the Fire Nation and Yomiko Readman talk to him face to face in an information trade rather than go hunting in his company's underbelly for mishapen clues of what might have happened."
She briefly ignited a blue flame atop her hand for emphasis, casting both of their features with azure light as she smiled her best intimidating smile, the corner of one lip quirked upward as she finished, "But please do ask."

The secretary was in fact a rather low-ranking office assistant who'd been promoted, and her expression made it plain that she did not sign up to deal with this kind of thing. "Miss Micaela's vanishment is still being investigated by the Surete-"
((At this rate it'd make more sense for them to just barge in.))

((Yeah, probably.))
"Um, well, I'm sorry to do this, but--"
The various bits of paper in the trays and scattered around the table began to whip themselves up into a distracting tornado.
"--let's just go in."

"Next time tell me you want to jump straight to forced entry," Azula replied while following Yomiko at a half run through the chaos, "And I'll just bring my armor, publicity be damned."
Agni, this was stupid and if, no when, they survived, Yomiko was going to get an earful of Fire Nation Covert Ops doctrine.

By the time the doors had opened and the two girls had entered, Veidt couldn't appear to muster much more than mild annoyance at their sudden appearance.
"Azula, isn't it?" he said, after only a perfunctory glance at her. "Come again when you have an appointment."

Expecting somewhat more of an elaborate security system and at least a few guards, Azula notched Veidt up a few ranks on the 'personally dangerous' meter even as she recovered her poise and brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, on the edge of violence but not looking it to anyone less than a fellow master manipulator. This monster was responsible for doing... whatever had happened to take Micaela away from her. She knew it.
The hand was new, though. Something to be wary of.
"Trust me, I really rather would," the former princess quipped, "But apparently this is my dear friend Yomiko Readman's idea of diplomacy when she wants a few questions answered."

That was cause for just some awkward chuckling as Yomiko scratched the back of her head. It was...not what she'd had in mind, exactly, and she gave an apologetic glance to her friend.
"Eh heh...sorry about that, I was hoping for something a little less flashy."
In any case, she turned her own glance over to this Veidt. Hmm...he reminded her a little of Joker. That probably wasn't a good thing.

Veidt sighed.
"You're the other one with a bizarre talent for flames. I remember now; Micaela practically seemed to collect your sort."
There was a genuine hollowness to his voice at the mention of Micaela, a real weariness. He rubbed his temple for a moment.
((Googled Joker. JFC he's like Veidt and Aziraphale's lovechild.))

"She's a papermaster actually," countered Azula with a gesture at Yomiko, voice firm, "I'm the firebender. But yes, Micaela did 'collect our sort'. That's what being a good person lets you do if you expend the effort."
Azula frowned slightly. He sounded regretful about Micaela, he honestly did, but regret could come from many things. Agni knew she had made her own mistakes, and many of them were her own fault. Which is why she wasn't going to leave Yomiko alone with Veidlt for one minute if she had a choice.

((That's a pretty accurate description, yes. Sadly. And an especially Large Ham at times.))
Regardless of how they entered, since she didn't want to seem rude, Yomiko bowed, smoothing her hair as best she could. "Ah, it's called making friends," she pointed out, nodding to back up her partner.
There was regret in that voice, too, and she had her own regrets--but sometimes mistakes weren't mistakes, and sometimes, well, the road to hell was paved with good intentions. In any case, as long as Azula didn't trust him, she wasn't going to.
