"Oh- here, you're going to fall-"

"I already fell for you," he sighed dramatically.

"Adrien, really."

He waved his hand almost dismissively and collapsed back on the bed with a sigh.

"You're being overdramatic. There's no such thing as fate."

"You fail so very hard at emulating the Greeks," was the French boy's response.

"I find certain ideas of theirs to be painfully outmoded, regardless of my respect for their culture. Then again, I might say the same for any existing people today..."
He reached over and touched Adrien's shoulder.
"Would you prefer to come to the meeting and take notes?"

Adrien looked up at him, expression slackening and then eyes widening and looking very innocently taken aback.
"Really?"

"Well, I have to do something to justify having you on payroll, and I'm short a secretary at the moment- may Melissa rest in peace, of course."

He kind of shrugged. "You know I don't mind if I'm off, I mean I'm living with you now anyway, but..." He got a little shy. "I... would like that."

"You do know how to take notes, don't you?"

He nodded.
And he did....although about two hours down the road, proudly handing them over to Adrian, they weren't precisely that much use to anybody. At first they looked almost remarkably childish, with certain words and graphs mentioned done with the bare minimum of work, just vague things with arrowed to them with words trying to describe phonetic pronunciation and that sort of thing, and in general Adrien's spelling had never been a success. Then of course was the fact that occasionally, without warning, a sentence such as, "Oh my God when he tosses his hair..." came up, with no explanation prior or post it.
Finally, and almost most puzzling at all, was the fact that much of it seemed to have been written in an improvised shorthand he appeared to have developed crudely on the spot. There was clearly a great deal of intelligence behind it, but it was new and perfectly useless to anybody else who might want to read the notes, unless of course they did have a genius' IQ, which most of Veidt Industries' employees did not.
There had furthermore been one other side effect of Adrien's participation at the meeting, and that was the obvious to anyone but oblivious him fact that he was clearly far-sighted, which had given him some trouble during the notes-taking process.

When the others had left, Adrian remained to personally inspect some of the figure prototypes that had been brought over from Japan, and was setting down a figure of himself that inexplicably used the old costume rather than the later version he'd worn until retirement.
"I hope you weren't too terribly bored."

"No, and I took lots of notes!"
Nothing that involved toys based off Adrian could possibly be bad.
"What's a manga? Is it some kind of novel?"

"It's their version of a comic book. Costumed heroes are actually still quite popular in Japan- I believe they regard it as an exotically American oddity, from their cultural perspective."
