Yann just stared at him blankly and blinked a few times. The gendarme grew impatient and barked something at him, and that snapped Yann out of his shocked. Stumbling over his words he told the man about what they had found in the room on the other side of the hallway.
"Blood. She's dead. Blood everywhere," he concluded, his whole body trembling.
((wonder if javert is too busy now :')))

Yuna pointed back at the way they'd come, indicating the apartment building.
"In there, we found it there." Even if the officer didn't know what she said, she was sure he'd at least understand the hand signals.
And she was right. Eyes narrowing, the gendarme gave a curt nod and started in the direction of the apartment building, Yuna following at a respectful distance behind him.

Dumbly he followed, sort of relieved it was out of their hands now, no longer their responsibility. He kept looking left and right to see if some freak with a knife would lunge at them from the alleyways to continue the carnage.
"That poor woman," he mumbled, over and over again.

It didn't take long to spring into action. Once the officer saw what waited in the apartment, he signalled for Yann and Yuna to stay in the hallway and immediately set out to bring in more police and cordon the place off.
In a rather efficient series of moves, in the end there were several officers, most of them to keep away some of the gawkers that had appeared at all the commotion. In the cordoned-off crime scene, two detectives were going over the scene, trying to come up with clues.
During all of this Yuna, alternated between keeping an eye on the series of events and keeping an eye on Yann.

Not that he needed to be kept an eye on. He was leaning against the wall, staring at the things that happened to move in front of his eyes without really registering it. It felt like he was dreaming, or rather, having a nightmare; there was something persistently unreal about it all.

"It's...a little surreal." She said suddenly.
"I'd gotten so used to peace and quiet, and had somehow forgotten about how things can become so chaotic. My life used to be a lot more hectic than it is in Paris." She said quietly, mostly musing on her situation at large rather than the current events.

"I can't believe what my eyes saw..." he replied quietly, without looking at her. "I keep hoping it was a hallucination because of my accident this morning..."

"I...am used to such sights." She said, so softly that it was probably not really intended for Yann.

Yann turned his head and focused on his friend. "You are?" he said in a tone of voice that suggested Yuna just said she was terminally ill.

"During my pilgrammage, there was a lot of...trial, and tribulation. Things were changing then, and there was a revolution...battles...I saw battle. I had to fight in them."

Of course he knew she'd been in pretty much a war, but it never sank in that that would include casualties. He grabbed her hand and swallowed.

She gave his hand a squeeze.
"I also used my healing power, where I could. Back in my world we had the magic to bring people back from death, but..."
She briefly glanced in the direction of the blocked-off apartment, then away again.
"Here, it looks like the magic doesn't work."

"Perhaps that's for the better," he muttered after understanding what she meant. "Bringing people from the dead is just..." He paused. "Wrong, I supposed, " he then said.

Yuna furrowed her brow at that.
"Wrong, how? There are so many that go too soon, they can be given another chance at it, especially if they were lost through some accident or sickness. The spell cannot return one who has passed on from old age, though."

"If God calls someone to Him... You shouldn't prevent someone from going." He bit his lower lip, realising that he was repeating what the priests used to say, not really saying something he firmly believed in. God was a little too cruel for his taste.
