Yuna tilted her head to one side, a bit confused.
"What do you mean? If no one kept the monster population down, they would overrun the cities. I consider it an honor."

"Oh." He blushed. "Is it... like the policemen around?" He vividly remembered his one brush with Justice and that policeman had looked and 'felt' like ridding the world of criminals was his sole purpose in life.

"Well...I suppose you could think of it that way. There are actual dedicated knights who patrol areas in and around the city, looking to keep people safe at home or on the roads. Some people, like me, can defend themselves, but most don't know magic or swords and such, so we have the knights."

He tried to take it all in, but it was so alien to him that he had trouble visualising. Still, his admiration for the young woman grew even more and he looked at her admiringly.

"It...is different, here?" She asked, wondering at his look.
For her, the things she spoke of were regular, every day things.

"I thought it was," he said uncertainly. "But perhaps I have put my nose in the books far too often so I missed what is happening in the real world."

"Well...I don't think monsters are as common here as they are in Spira." She said thoughtfully.
"At least, they don't attack as often if nothing else."

"I think I am fairly all right with that," he said weakly, and he felt rather pathetic. The idea however of monsters lurking made his queasy and wary, not unlike a young child afraid of monsters under his bed or in the wardrobe.
"I'm happy you are here to protect me." To hell with the conventions of men protecting women. He needed protection right now and Yuna seemed perfectly adequate to provide it, despite her distinctly feminine appearance.

Smiling, she reached out to give his and a squeeze.
"I'll do my best for you, and for all the people around me here. Paris has so many troubles of it's own, I'll do what I can to help."

"You're the noblest woman I've ever met," he said, fiercer than he had anticipated and he blushed lightly.

Yuna reddened a bit herself.
"Well, I don't know...I just...do what I think is best."

"That's what makes you noble." He nodded. "I often don't," he then admitted. "Because I'm scared."

"But scared isn't always bad. You know there's such a thing as being too brave."

"That is just ... not very wise. Stupid, really. Doing brave stuff to impress others..." But still he'd like to actually DO impress someone, for once.

"That's the bad part. What you should be being brave for is for others, not just yourself, and not for showing off. You should be doing it because it's the right thing, not for glory."
